I'm not from the UK - just wanted to say Welcome.  As far as no history of UTI's - in looking back, I don't really think that I had much of a history with them - I always thought that I had one, sent on my way with antibiotics with either no test run, or no test results back yet.  I've found that the doctor often doesn't bother to tell you that the results are negative - thus I have no idea how many times I actually did have one.  Then, i caught on & refused the antibiotics until the results were back - guess what - no UTI!  Then, finally, actually did have one.  I had built up a resistence to all the normal antibiotics and had to be hospitalized with IV antibiotics.  Then, all kinds of symptoms again, with no bacteria present, and I went searching for a different answer before I submitted to conventional medicine - I no longer had much trust in them.
While my plane ride was nowhere as long as yours will be - California just two states away from Washington - I am darned proud of myself, as you should be, to look for an answer that has been, and continues to be, the right one - albeit expensive as my healthcare won't pay a dime.
