phlegm and dairy

Hey-

Anyone else super sensitive to dairy?  It really messes me up--makes me SUPER phlegmy seconds later. I cant seem to make myself stop eating it though, because I already feel so limited!  Ugh.  I just love yogurt and milk in my coffee :(

I too have the same problem. I recently moved myself onto yogurt and blueberries to help with my sugar cravings.  After a week, the phlegm had built up so much that the production of it in my throat kept me awake..Yuck!

I also have a circle of itchy red skin which appears in the cleft of my arm - also I think related to dairy.

I looked it up and yes dairy can cause phlegm and it makes sense that we're sensitive to it given our bodies are - in my mind over run with mucous from all the inflammation.
This is just my view though - I'm not an expert!  I also think that grapefruit didn't help- sure I read somewhere that citrus can cause phlegm too.

Ladies, how long are you doing your respective diets? I havent started with Matia yet but from readin up on nutrition books and healing the body, I keep coming across a time frame of six months to stay away from dairy, gluten and sugar, after which the body should be able to cope with them by slowly introducing them back in.

Thanks for that info - I'm bored to death but still on list 1 and have been since 28 Jan 11.  I add in a few veg from other lists that I know I can tolerate but mostly just list 1 foods.  I plan on going the whole hog til I got this thing beat.  I want my life back!

I know the feeling, I really do. I am sticking so well to the diet but I cry nearly every day, isnt that terrible. I feel like a big baby. I can hardly stand to go into supermarkets. I am nearly 14 weeks at this and I thought it would get easier but if anything, its getting harder. My only consolations are that my nails are getting strong, people are saying that my skin looks amazing and my bladder is feeling back to normal, ive been symtom free for weeks and weeks now, even with die off going on. So hold on, missmadmolly, keep a diary of all the changes, good and bad, it will be worth it but it is soooooooooooooooooooooo hard.

Even though your bladder has been feeling better your still on List one??? Is this because Matia wants it or your doing it on your own? I've been on list one for almost 3 weeks and I know it is making me feel better but I really would like to add in some more food. I too will do what ever it takes to feel better again. This morning I had no symptoms what so ever, it was so nice, I went for a one hr. walk around my neighborhood just enjoying feeling good. Right now I feel alittle bladder discomfort but I think it's because my period is due in a day or so.
Ok, I just re-read your post and see you haven't seen her yet! I go on the 27th, I can't wait!!!

Ten weeks ago you posted asking if it was too late for you to be helped and now you are saying with just the diet changes your bladder is feeling fine! Girl this is reason to celebrate! I know you are sick of list one but it's only for a short while. I have been doing only List one too, and while yea it is borning, I have lost weight and my bladder feels great most mornings and only slightly irritated in the evenings. You can do this! Don't cry over missed food, it's not worth it. You know what would make me cry, my bladder going into a big flare, now that's something to cry about! Hang in there!

Know how you feel about the supermarkets, I'm the same.  I try to go shopping less but you know what our society is like - there's food and temptation everywhere!
I slipped up at the weekend..confession time.  I've barely been out so was looking forward to a day shopping and lunching with my friend, needless to say I ended up at Gourmet Burger chowing down a burger in a bun (the first bread since jan) and a vanilla milkshake which tasted like heaven but of course I'm feeling so bad on myself now.  When you cheat - you cheat yourself!  I finished the evening with 3 vodka sodas and 2 cigs :(
Felt awful the next day - hungover, tired and bloated as well as increased frequency (no surprise!)
I'm really struggling -  these restrictions are getting me down.  I seem to have lost my way through this - feel permanently angry.  If my friends were all tee totalling, health freaks it would help!  I think they should convert - just for me ;)
On the positive side, I too have noticed huge improvement in my skin - I have my colour back and can actually go out without lots of layers.  My urgency/frequency would be massively improved if I gave up my 1 black coffee, it's my only treat but my bladder doesn't like it.
In response to christine about the list 1 - I have some things from list 2 and I'm 2 months into the diet.  For me I want to see huge improvement in my night time waking/weeing before I go forward.
