Flaring Question...

Hi Ladies, I have a question for you;)... I have stabilized quite a bit in both my heart and my bladder the past week... woohoo!... even though I am following the diet, I am still experiencing 1 flare a day. Two -three flares if its a tough day. I generally do really well in the morning/afternoon  until around 2:30-3 then I fall apart. Generally, I stabilize again around 5 pm;) The mornings are always best though.

Also, do you have foods on the various lists you need to avoid....even below the current list you are on? I am gluten free, no eggs, and broccoli seems to be giving me a hard time too... argh!

So...

1) Do you still flare while following the diet?

2) Have you found any flaring/IC symptom patterns?

Thanks, Katie

I have never been able to pick up a pattern to my IC symptoms.  Broccoli flares my bladder and gives me gas and loose stools too.  Anything green seems to flare my bladder up.  I have a hard time eating any of the vegetables.

Would love to bump this thread up again! I'm having a really hard time figuring out what foods affect me?! It seems like all veggies make me flare some days (though other days I seem to tolerate things like cabbage, zucchini, celery & cucumber fairly well). Does anyone else find this?!

I have heard this is often true early in treatment because there is just a high amount of inflammation in general and the body is sensitve and is also detoxifying throught the bladder, bowels and skin! So keep good notes and dont stress about it too much. Emma are you fairly new to treatment? This is normal! I just felt generally icky in the first months of treatment and just stayed on the list that I was allowed and ate from most items. I did notice that salmon caused me frequency (she even says so in the notes) but that changed quicky. Also red leaf lettuce possibly. We are all different. Want to be sure you are cooking most veggies at this point as that tends to help in general (Not eating raw cabbage, right?)

If we don't excel at health, the only other option is disease.

Emma, I'm struggling with constant flaring as well right now. I think that I didn't introduce one food item in at a time very slowly. I'm going to start again with one thing at a time to try and figure out what is causing the pain. It's just so hard because I'm always hungary and want to eat everything!! haha!

Thanks ladies! Yes I am new to treatment Mimi- I have been with Boaz for just over 3 weeks. However, I was following the ICAMA diet for about 4 months before visiting Boaz and was seeing a lot of improvement with the diet alone (plus some probiotics that I had already been taking). So it seems to me that it is the herbs that could be shaking things up?
I guess I'm just not sure if I need a change to the herbal protocol or if I need to do more detective work to figure out what foods are affecting me? I am wondering if it is just general inflammation that needs to settle down, because all foods increase my symptoms a little bit (though there are a few foods that seem to increase my symptoms much more, so I'm guessing I should avoid these for a little while)?
I hope that makes sense, I have such a hard time communicating my symptoms because they are SO inconsistent, to the point that one day I feel 90% normal, and the next I have a crappy day, and then back to good again, and so on! so up and down!

Emma- I am an up and down patient too. it is hard to keep track but you are not alone so the drs have dealt with this. just do the best you can. OSmtiems the pattern emerges after a while. So in the beginning it can be impossibel to tell. Even now- I have a hard tiem telling for sure with some things. But I figure if I had many good days while eating somthing, chances are the one night I flar eis not because of that food.  Most poele seem to figure it out sooner than me so don't worry!
