OK, i am fairly new to all this, someone on Facebook posted this this morning... now I know you can't believe everything you read, but if anyone cares and has time, can you read this article and give me your thoughts. I would also love to know Matia's thoughts on this article. But don't know if she would have time to read it, or I don't know if I can send it to her?
I am so confused with this all, and it is starting to really overwhelm me.

Thanks
Kelsey

I have read stuff like this before, I quess the only natural sweetener is honey and maple syrup..and fruitBefore treatment I used Agave before and if did not give me that blood sugar rise like sugar used to.SO, I would love to hear Matia's take on this, you should send it to her

I just (today) listened to a lecture by the author of this article (Fallon) in my nutrition program.  I am being certified as a holistic health and wellness coach.  Anyway, this woman knows her stuff and the Weston Price foundation is, in my opinion, a really reputable organization and one that can be reliable for good information.  I adore agave (though I don't eat it now) as a healthier alternative and I'm also shocked to read this information.  It somehow seemed too good to be true.  So disappointing! Anyway, I would definitely send this link to Matia and ask her to post her opinion on it since it will certainly affect most of us here in the long run when we are permitted to eat this type of thing again.

Posting, I did find the the same article and what Matia said about it. But it didn't really give me any answers? Just that Matia has seen in her practice that Agave is one of the best (or best for your body) sweeteners. So if I send this to Matia, which although I want to, won't it be the same thing she has already seen? I am so confused on what to believe. It seems like the part of how it is processed must be true... I just don't get why raw honey, wouldn't be better, when it isn't processed, or I guess I am just wondering what IS good then? I really want to know the truth, when this is the sweetener Matia is saying we should use when we can and you read things like this, I find it so hard not to get overwhelmed and discouraged : (

I do agree we need to hear more from Matia on this topic.  I, too, have found many sources alleging agave is not that great for health, esp from. Mercola which I trust.  The only caveat is that maybe they're talking about in larger quantities it's an issue, whereas for us even after treatment we will use sparingly?
If Matia is asked, the question would first be why does she not believe agave is unhealthy, the aspect I did not find addressed in her previous blog that Nicole posted.  Yes, we understand that it's the least aggravating to IC/chronic illness, but that aside, for general health why does she not think it's as bad as other sources claim?  And then, it'd be great if she could also address the other sweeteners she didn't talk about in the old blog, like stevia.

then I guess I will just send her the link, and ask her aside from having IC and it being good, as far as general health why does she think it is not as bad as they claim, like you said Lisa. This is really the question, I was planning on using this for my daughter when she has sweets, and husband. I want the best for them too...Are you sure it is ok to send it to her? I am afraid of bothering her, or I don't know!

I have read articles like this before too.  I had also read Matia's blog saying agave is a safe sweetner to use.  A DO I doctored with for a few years, who was very wise and a man ahead of his time in approach to medicine, told me not to get used to sweet tastes.  I think sweetners like molasses, organic maple syrup, and fruit juice are probably okay to use in small amounts once our bodies get back into balance, but I would be content to just be able to have a piece of fruit if I craved something sweet.

that the best and healthy way to have something sweet is a piece of fruit. My all time fav dessert over anything used to be a banana with raw almond butter. BUT, that doesn't change the fact that Matia is recommending this as a safe sweetener for us (when we are ready) and our family's for baking, and anything you want to make sweet, INSTEAD of sugar, raw honey or stevia. I wouldn't want to use it, if the claims about it being unhealthy are true.So yes, I would really like to hear an in depth answer to why she still thinks it is healthy, even if the claims of how it is processed and used my our bodies are true?

Here are two more articles on agave....read both arguments and then see how you feel about it.  I haven't sent these to Matia but will if people here think it would help.http://www.naturalnews.com/024892.htmlhttp://www.naturalnews.com/025060_agave_nectar_sugar_sugars.html

Thank you for these. It helped to clarify things for me somewhat. Now, I did ask Matia yesterday when I had a phone app with her about Agave. She said along the same lines of what she has said on here about it. She said she does not agree with anything that is being said that is bad about it. She also said that pure maple syrup could be used, and that is was just as good as Agave. So... I guess I will trust her right now, and keep researching. it is not like I can have it right now anyway, so I have some time ; )
