Forums:
I visited LA in June for the initial consultation with Dr Brizman, having had every recognised mainstream medical treament for IC over the last 18 months. I just wondered if there were any other men on the forum who could perhaps share their experiences of treatment and the recovery. Its great to read all the posts from you ladies but we have a few differences and therefore our symptoms can be different so it would be good to hear from any men. Thanks
Ian

Hi, I'm not a man but I didn't want you to feel ignored either! If you just need a person to chat with I am here! Talking to anyone sometimes about this illness and knowing they understand what you are going through is better than being alone to deal with it.

MEN!
Hi Kim, Hi Ian,
Kim - it was really nice of you not to just pass this poor guy up - like I did. Thanks for reminding me that nice girls don't always finish last :)
Ian, all of our symptoms from this are so diverse. I've found that when our urethras and bladders sort themselves out, we start realizing that our bodies have been a long time getting here. Other than the "typical" female complaints, there are a lot of ringing ears, horrible sinus headaches, itching, acne, muscle pains. Oh, anxiety, anger, depression - you are most welcome to join in for all the fun.

Men
I know Matia has treated men for IC, but I'm not sure if there are currently any men being treated. Maybe there are and they just don't write on the post board. Anyhow, welcome Ian.

Hi Ian,
Maybe also check the old success stories section of this site. I am pretty sure seeing guys who were successfully treated with Matia's protocoal. Good luck to you.
Thank you ladies
Thank you to all you ladies who have responded. I'm a new patient for Dr Brizman but having suffered from IC for nearly two years I've had quite a lot of support from both females and males through the www.cobfoundation.org website in the UK. I'm quite an active member of COB and post on the forums regularly, in fact that's how I found out about Dr Brizman and contacted her for an appointment. Obviously I pick up a lot from many posts on the ICAMA forums, and there are some parallels but I just thought it would be useful if there were other men getting treatment to compare notes. Cobfoundation recently started a 'mens area' on the forum just to try and tease out some more posts from men as 99% of the posts were from females. I think it has been useful but I think I've helped more newbies than anthing but that's very rewarding and in a way a relief valve because one can talk about ones own experiences.
I will ask Dr Brizman on Friday if she can ask any other men to post on the forum or contact me direct. Thanks for the suggestion.

How admirable of you Ian to
How admirable of you Ian to be an advocate to other men. IC diagnosis comes with a lot of confusion. It is helpful for newly diagnosed to connect with someone who is further down the IC path or progressed in treatment as Dr Brizman patient. I am sending good wishes of perseverance, resilience, and restored health to you.
