Christmas time thankfulness

3 years ago I was on this sight all the time.  I have not been on here in about a year.  I found Matia and started the diet very strict in November.  That meant no christmas cookies, turkey dressing, or other holiday treats.  I survived and came out in Feb almost pain free.  I would slip on the diet and have some sugar and then get into pain again for a few months.  On and off it went.  Then about 1 year later I had alot of pain again and called Matia.  Of course this time I knew what to do and nipped it in the bud much faster.  I never let it get out of control.  This last 6 months I have been "cured" in my opinion. I eat almost anything....altho I still keep the veggies very high, don't drink hardly at all, and eat waaay less sugar than I did before.

I just want you all to have hope and keep on struggling.  It is so worth it and you will get there. Your body will balance and heal itself if you give it the tools.  One thing I still do is probiotics and I now make my own for very cheap by making my own sauerkraut.  There is lots of info on how to do this on Mercola.com if you search for fermented foods.  I get 4 quart jars of sauerkraut with a large bag of cabbage or 1 large head and some good sea salt.  Costs about $3 for 3 large jars that last me 1-2 months.  You can add carrots, purple cabbage, garlic, beets, cauliflower, to make up different varietys.  I eat a good serving almost every day or put some juice in a smoothie or in soup. The fermented foods also help you poop  out toxicities.

Take care and love to you all.  It is hard but you can be strong control what you eat.  It gets easier over time.  Be gentle with your self and don't worry if you go 2 steps forward and one step back.....it is a process. If you can do Hatha- gentle yoga I would highly recommend it.  Breathing and relaxation are so healing.  Touch the earth and trees with your bare skin.  Walk in the woods if you can.  Sun on the skin this time of year or Vit D3 helps too.  God bless you all.

What a wonderful post! Thank you! I have also been pretty cyclical in my improvement (with diet slip ups here and there), but I am really starting to believe that OVERALL, I've made definite progress forward. Reading your story is a wonderful reaffirmation that if you just trust the process, it will all take care of itself :).

This Christmas I am thankful that:
I no longer have any IBS-like symptoms -- EVER.
I have not gotten "sick" once in eight months (like a flu or a cold), even though my husband's had about 4 flu/colds.
My body is in stellar shape.
