Hello everyone, I've been in treatment with Dr. Brizman for about four months. This past month she upped my Biffido and I immediately started to notice some real changes in how I feel. My bladder pain seems to be way down, which is awesome. I also have more energy and feel more emotionally stable (yes and yes!).
Last weekend, out of nowhere, I suddenly developed swimming, blurry vision and a headache accompanied by vague nausea. After a couple hours feeling lousy I decided to try to sleep it off. I felt better the next day, with those strange feelings coming and going a little bit throughout the day. Throughout all this, my bladder was actually fantastic. Fast forward a week and the other evening I noticed I had what looked like a rash or localized hives over my stomach. It was gone the next morning but has reappeared in varying degrees over the last couple days. Again, I feel fine, my bladder is fine and my stomach isn't itchy or painful, the rash is just there. I also haven't been doing or eating anything out of the ordinary to explain these weird symptoms.
Might this be die-off? Has anyone else experienced anything like this before?? What has die-off felt/looked like for you guys?
Thanks for your help.
Lauren
Hi Lauren!
I am so glad your bladder is feeling so good, that is just wonderful! I haven't had the symptoms that you've described, but I do have these very small sores on my scalp that come and go. I remember telling Dr. B about them on one of my appointments, and she told me that they would return. And they have. I suspect it is die off.

I'm just over 3 weeks into treatment and have experienced horrible die off symptoms!
I'm keeping a list so I can go over everything with Dr B during my phone consult this week.
So far I've experienced:
Lightheaded
Severe dizziness
Depression
Anxiety
Headache
Gurgling stomach
Gas
Floaters in vision
Muscle pain
Sore throat
Joint paint
Muscle weakness
Ear pain
Stomach pain
Tooth pain
Chest tightness
PHEW! Lets just say the last 3 weeks haven't been very fun.. :/

Hi Natalie86,
I also have experienced all of your symptoms as well, the anxiety and depression was really bad.... But when I told Dr.B she added a vitamin to my protocol and I got so much better.
Hi Calieve, Thanks for the
Hi Calieve,
Thanks for the reply. Was it the Siberian thing she added in or something else??
She added vitamin D3, and it
She added vitamin D3, and it took about a week or two, and my anxiety and depression got much better. It still creeps up on me once in a while. But I had such bad anxiety for like 2 months before she added it. I even had to take a week off work because I was so overwhelmed with anxiety.
Miserable symptoms
Hi Melanie,
I've had a number of those myself - although not all at the same time! Well, as my mom always says, "Better out than in!".
I find the bladder pain unbearable, but as uncomfortable as the die-off is, it's a sign we're getting better, so I can bear it with more cheerfulness.
All the best to you in your healing.
Lauren
Hi Willow, I tried posting
Hi Willow,
I tried posting a comment yesterday but for some reason it did not go through...
I am kinda of like you, my bladder is 80 percent better. I get some burning once in a while in the morning for a couple hours or at night for a couple hours. But sometimes I won't even feel my bladder for a few days. =) It is wonderful...
But I do experience a lot of die off symptoms, and every month the die off symptoms change... This month I am dealing with muscle tightness, and joint and muscle pain. I cannot exercise at all I will be soooo sore.
In past months I had extreme fartigue, headaches, naseua, dizziness, fogginess, studdering, and slurring, sore throat, cough, flu like symptoms, nightmares, hair falling out, dark circles under my eyes, acne, and more.
Although I am also happy that my bladder is doing better because I could not tolerate that pain it was torture, but die-off is still hard to deal with.... Soon it will be gone and we will live a normal life again... You look young, so hopefully for you, you will heal fast... Good luck...and weren't you planning a wedding? How's everything going with that?
Sorry!
Hi Calieve,
I've tried responding half a dozen times. Each time it erases my posting! I have no idea why.
Yes, I was planning a wedding and my wedding took place May 5. I had a few scary hours the night before the wedding and the morning of when I had a strong nausea reaction to the higher doses of biffido I've been on, but Dr. Brizman was wonderful. We quickly arranged a phone call and she got me on goldenseal. The nausea subsided JUST in time for my walk down the aisle.
Honestly, the evening was magical and I felt great. For me it was such a triumph that IC doesn't own me. IC may come and go but I live my life on my own terms.
I'm speaking with Dr. B again tomorrow so hopefully we can deal with the nausea. I don't know if that's a die-off side effect, or it means I can't tolerage the biffido... My jaw has also been really tight and sore. Not sure what that means either--but of course I'm getting used to my body doing bizarre things I can't understand ;).
I hope you're doing well!
Lauren
WOW! Congratulations
WOW! Congratulations Bride!!!! That's right- you are living life on your terms! Beautiful ;)
:)
Thanks Deir. I try to appreciate every little triumph over this condition!
DIe Off Symptoms
DO die off symptoms include bladder falres? I'm moving into month 3 here and feel like I can't get more than 4 good days strung together without a flare. This one is in day 2 and I have no idea what I did 2 cause it. also, my lips cracked yesterday suddenly for no reason. Any encouragement would be appreicated.
Hi Pterzwife, I do think that
Hi Pterzwife,
I do think that die off cause bladder flares, because when the toxins are coming out of the body they come out through our urine, and bowel movements....and more places like your nose, and ears... What causes my bladder to burn is when I ovulate, and a few days leading up to my period. And I believe those days are when more die off happens.
Also my third month through my fifth month of treatment were the hardest for me. I had the most die off, and bladder burning at that time.
Are you going through a hormonal part of your cycle right now?
I hope you feel better soon, and just track everything so Dr. B can adjust your herbs to make you as comfortable as possible through this process. You will get better and feel good soon.
DIe off Symptoms/Menopause
Dear Calieve:
Thank you for replying. I have been reading your posts for awhile now. I am 53 so instead seem to be dealing with menopausal changes which may have been the cause of this week's earlier flare. Just out of curiosity, how long were you on the diet before you got any indication that you were healing? THis week, doubt started to creep in again...
Thank you.
Bonnie
Hi Bonnie, Once I started
Hi Bonnie,
Once I started the diet I felt better immediately... and when I mean better, I mean that my bladder went from being on a 6-8 out of 10 pain scale, to more like 3-5 pain scale.... but then once the herbs got added in my bladder felt way better, but then I got die off... And with the die off came ,flu like symptoms, extreme fatigue, and more came.
Dr. B has always said that our hormones make our bladder worse, and for me it does.... When I ovulate my bladder burns, and between ovulation through my peirod, my bladder is a lot more sensitive and burns a little. But then after my period, and the days leading up to ovulation, I don't even feel my bladder.... Dr.B has posted on here a lot about how our hormones affect our bladders, and we usually feel worse at that time. So the same thing goes for Menopause....
I read on here some posts regarding that, here are couple posts :
http://www.icama.org/blog/mbrizman/2009/02/18/hormones
http://www.icama.org/blog/mbrizman/2008/10/14/good-question
I believe I also may have read it in the dissertation.
I also read that you are taking RP.... I am taking RP as well, my hormones are very imbalanced. RP helps to rebalance hormones... I am up to 4 capsules of RP three times per day... It takes time for RP to work, months I believe. So just give it some time, your body will eventually get balanced again through these herbs, and Dr. B's treatment.
