Hi Lindsey P, I don't really
Hi Lindsey P,
I don't really have full recipes to share, but here are a few things so simple and makes it yummie.
1) I chop onions very very little and slightly brown them in olive oil, then add cooked rice on top, stir a few times. This adds a nice salty aspect to rice. You can break an egg in it too, and this is my fake chinese fried rice alternative. You can add broccoli etc or chopped chicken or meat :)
2) I put raw almonds in water in the fridge for a day and change it's water a couple of times (i use spring water), then peel the skin off and put in a pan with little or no olive oil to brown them. I use them to top my cooked rice and ground beef and makes a nice combination. I also like eating almonds cold, with skin off as a snack.
oh, and i haven't done this yet, but you can empty a small yogurt container (single serving size) , mix the yogurt with some berries and nuts in a separate bowl, repour into the empty cup, stick a stir (maybe a starbucks one :) in the middle and put in the freezer for a ice cream treat :)P
Selichan do skins have to be removed from almonds?
The raw nut butter I was hoping to eventually use again I think has skins on?
If we don't excel at health, the only other option is disease.
Yes, I take off the skin when
Yes, I take off the skin when cooking, when snacking it's just my preference since i don't like the bitterness the skin adds. I wouldn't incorporate nuts just yet if you are just starting treatment, as they can be irritant on the bladder. I think Matia allows you to try them at the end of List 3, if you are ok with the rest of the items on that list, then butter from those nuts (cashew and butter).
Thanks ladies! You know what
Thanks ladies! You know what my problem is right now? I'm having a hard time with the taste of olive oil, it's making me gag.. And that's like a staple for us! I don't know how else to eat my salads! Also I need meals that don't take too much time as I share a kitchen with my sister whom also cooks dinner and I have a little one, and a hungry husband. Geesh! My husband actually likes the foods I make, can't go wrong with all of the meat and potatoes we get to eat.
Nadia I see on your site that you use a lot of lamb. That must be more popular in the UK than the US, I don't know anyone whose ever cooked lamb. I've only seen it in super fancy restaurants however I would love to try and make some it would sure mix things up a bit! Any tips on how to cook it?
Hi LinseyP, are you ok with
Hi LinseyP, are you ok with butter? it's a bit heavier but adds a lot of flavor to food. I like lamb as well, it was the only type of meat i ate while on my trip. Oregano is a staple spice that takes away the heaviness. I see lamb at whole foods but not in organic section, lamb usually feeds on grass so it should be ok though. I remember Matia advising against eating pork meat, maybe you can do a search and find some past articles on it.
Yes I love butter. What brand
Yes I love butter. What brand olive oil is everyone using? I'm wondering if I have the wrong kind
