difficulty peeing

Does anyone else ever find it hard to actually pee? Like you have to strain to go? I get this on and off and the last week it has been bugging me so much. It's particualrly worse at night (when my bladder is fuller and I get up to go). It's a horrible feeling! I have to push and stop--and-start and I can feel it's so bad for all the muscles down there and it sometimes sets of pain! It also makes me afraid I'm going to get a bladder infection from having retention. I haven't seen anyone else really mention this symptom, so just wondering if it's something other people get sometimes ...

Yes, I have had this alot at the beginning and then sporadic throught the 2 years.  I get it alot when I'm cold, feet cold esp during winter due to imbalance or even if I eat too much salt.  Please let Dr B know, she can help get the urine flowing again.  Its scary but it will pass.  if you are cold, I find that using a warm water bottle helps to move things through.  sometimes its painful like you have to pee and it hurts while urine stream is drips (if any), smelly urine (TMI but it happens) and VERY yellow/concentrated urine which I've spoken to her about.  Its all part of this crazy IC.  Hang in there and let us know how you do.

I've had this off and on (usually with hormone changes throughout the month)... not sure if mine is as bad as what you say.  Let her know.  She has tweaked my herbs and probiotics in the past to help with it.  I would let her know if I were you.

Hey Megan, I have this problem quite often. Funny you are questioning this as I was just wondering this myself. I was at a conference today and when we would have our brakes I would be rushing to the bathroom, and would have to pee really bad, but as everyone is filing in and out I couldn't help but notice how much longer it really took me to relax to start going and keep the stream going. Good to know I am not alone in this. I have mentioned it to Dr. B and she usually makes adjustments. You are not alone.

This also happens to me especially when my bladder is very full. Feels like my bladder gets stiff or the urethra gets swollen. I find that it usually happens as well when I don't get in enough water and or when I am closer to my period. I am curious what dr. B says about this?
so many questions and it helps so much to get everyone's feedback making us feel normal and not alone!

hang in there and let us know what you hear,
Carey

This is one of the symptoms I get when in a flare- Dr B called it 'construction' and that's exactly what it feels like, I have to push to get the pee out! I know I'm having a good day when the flow comes easy. Its so annoying, I think one of the most frustrating symptoms for me. Hope it improves soon for you.

Ahh auto correct is so damn annoying too! I meant ' constriction' not construction, lol. Sounds like I'm trying to build something down there!!

I have a very weak flow during ovuluation, i have to stop and push to get it out at increments. I feel same that it's probably bad for the pelvic muscles in the long run. My urologist before seeing Matia has told me, that i had a small bladder, and possibly some muscles have gotten weaker over time, and maybe partial reason why i was getting UTI's because i wasn't emptying all the way...Matia never seemed worried about it, which makes me feel like it should be something that will improve over time...I feel worse during a flare, where i have to go, but almost nothing comes out. Lesser degree around ovuluation, hormonal. The rest of my good days, i have a strong flow, and i am not shy to enjoy how loud i am anymore :)

Thanks guys! Glad to know I'm not the only one who experiences this. Its weird cause its a symptom I often get when I'm otherwise feeling okay and not flaring ... strange. I don't notice that its worse at any time of the month but it does seem to sometimes be aggravated by either not drinking enough or waiting too long to pee.

She called it congealed urine, I cant recall what exactly that means...
