efficacy of boma med sunscreen

I have used boma med sunscreen for years. It has kept me from burning for sure. I just orded some more, but when it arrived I put it on and it was more runny than normal, had less zinc residue on the skin and smells different. I think they changed the formula. But the question is this.. does it block uva and uvb rays and what is its spf? And if it is not fda approved with all the money boma med has to fda approve a product then how do we know it works. I was more convinced with it leaving white zinc residue but now it does not and that I'd what the active ingredient was? Non nano particles are not good either. We have no idea what we are buying or its efficacy

I would call and ask Lynn directly to ease  your worry.

The last time I got some, I remember Lynn telling me it was SPF 30?? I may be wrong, and you may want to double check with her on that. But I believe that's what I remember her telling me.

I know she had said it is spf 30 and I have not gottwn Burt in the past. From what I know you can get chromosomal damage even if you are not getting burnt pending whether or not the rays block uva and uvb rays. And the only way to know is to test it scientifically and that is where the fda comes in to make sure these things pass these tests. I will ask about how they test to know it is spf 30

Ask what the active ingredient is. If it is zinc (which per your comment about white residue I thought it was?) or titanium dioxide, then they are both barrier sunscreens which protect against uva and uvb. this is not a matter of a scientific test when using barrier sunscreens. It is a matter of the amount added. Perhaps they are using a little less than previous batches. Doubtfull they are using chemicals in this product. You can also order bomasense lotion and order pure, powdered, cosmetic-grade zinc (NON nano) and make your own.
Bomasense ingredients still clog my skin (although can use on limbs) because I am still unbalanced and acne prone. Once my body has sorted that out I will use Bomasense. Currently I wear sun-protective clothing, a hat, and zinc-based mineral powder makeup. This works pretty well
On a different note, I think there is a lot of unwarranted fear about sun exposure. If the body is in better balance, risks with sun exposure are low in my opinion. Personally in my house, my kids swim at non-peak hours and usually only wear sunscreen on their faces unless going to be out for prolonged times. Here is an article about vitamin D which I think is important.

Here is another interesting article but need to scroll way down to see the list of benefits. The formatting is funny.

I credit my hyper-vigilance about avoiding the sun in my 20s and 30s with being a contributing factor to the onset of my health issues.

I do not see Bomasense sunscreen listed anywhere on the Web Store.  Anybody know if we can still order it?

I think I remember someone saying once you have to call the office and speak to Lynn about it.

Thank you Carole.  I used to order it off the web store, but I can't find it.  Another IC patient has been asking me about it too as she can't find it either.  I guess we will wait until Lynn comes back and give her a call.  Thanks again.

Yes it must be directly ordered through Lynn.  You can email her and she will get it taken care of when she returns from vacation.
