I have a question: is it normal to feel no pain while urinating? This is the case with my condition. I never feel pain or burn when I actually go. Also, if I feel a bowel movement coming on within the half hour, my pain goes almost away. After going it can get much worse or better. A bit of an embarrassing question but I was wondering if other people have similar experiences in how symptoms are triggered with pelvic floor activity and if this a normal part of this condition.
Thank you for being open minded...part of the healing is to feel that Im not crazy or alone for having these experiences, Carey

I never had pain with urination. Ever. Sometimes my bladder discomfort will be lessened if I am passing gas LOL. In the beginning of treatment my bladder bothered me after a bowel movement. That stopped after several months.

Hi Carey,
Hi Carey,
I think your experiences are pretty normal. Matia always asks me if my symptoms change pre or post BM. (At this point, I have covered every embarrassing topic under the sun with her, so it's hard to shock me, and I imagine anyone on this forum).
As an aside, I emailed you my # if you wanted to talk on the phone - let me know if you didn't get it and you'd still like to talk. I'm happy to share what I know.

Carey, I think you need to check your spam because I emailed you several times also and you said you did not recieve anything.

Normal. For us!
Normal. For us!
When I first got IC, a bm would always make me feel better. Now, it is almost always much worse. Apparently it isn't great that that hasa ctually gotten worse for me as opposed to improving but inmy case, I consider all change to be good because it means something is happening.

Deir, I really associate the worse feeling with all of the detox we do through the bladder and bowel and all of the lymphatic tissue down there. There is no other way to get the darn toxins out (other than skin) and dr. B has writen that we can't put our poor bladders and bowels in a cast while we heal. They have to help us detox which makes it really hard sometimes.

Actually, I used to feel good after bm. Lately, I feel slightly uncomfortalble. I was suprised about it. I heard other people mentioning it, but it never was my case; now, it is. I am not sure if it is good or bad.

Hey Blondy- maybe it is a good sign for both of us that some more stuff is moving down and out.
Let's hope so. :)

Yes, it is normal when you have IC. It's part of the symptoms of your gut imbalance.

I feel so pleased to hear this. For the first time in my life I am not alone! Thank you all for sharing. Xox
BMs gas and urination are all
BMs gas and urination are all natural functions. I want to give full permission for anyone to ask anything they deem embarrassing and state for the record that no one that I know of here judges these things. You would NOT even beleive the levels of details of symptoms that all of us have experienced in these sensitive areas and the creativity level of this condition to truly baffle and push one to levels of dropping modesty concerning such private acts to openly discuss them. There is WAY too much shame around this condition. This place is healing and is for questions like this. I just wanted you to know that Matia and Boaz have probably heard it ALLLLLLL. We have all seen alot ourselves. Disease is natural. Sex is natural. I was thinking of posting a thread titled:
Questions and commentary on subjects that you are embarrased to ask Matia or other people and we just openly share whatever.
With a disclaimer like "this may be TMI and if you can't handle that than don't read."
Maybe if its still too much people can sign up with a different name just for the thread and we can talk about some stuff that might be too intense for casual discussion. Just a thought.
Is this a good idea?

Awesome idea honeybee! I have so many questions about 'down there' and how it changes and travels. I feel shut down sexually too. Tonight i was feeling better and then our dog got out and chased a coyote and within minutes a flare...ugh.

Great idea Mary! Although I bet we will be able to figure out who people are because we all know eachothers' stories so well LOL

I don't think there is such thing as "normal" when it comes to IC. Everyone's different!
