I bought a few gallons of raw milk. The milk had a strange taste, almost gamey. (It reminged me of mutton as opposed to lamb). If you have tried raw milk, how did it taste to you compared to regular milk? Do you get used to the taste?
My kids are drinking it and I am hoping to be approved to drink it soon.
Where did you find it?
I live in Austin, TX and I can't find it anywhere. Where did you buy it? I would love to try it. I work at a health food store and I can get low pasteurized. It also tastes "gamey". My daughter will not drink it by itself. Only on her cereal. Tammy

I've been buying raw milk for my daughter for over a year now and the last six months or so Matia wants me to drink at least a cup a day. It is very good!!!
It defiantly taste more "natural" I would have to say then the flat taste of regular milk. But I wouldn't describe it as gamey. It taste like grass sometimes, and pasture. That is the best way I can describe it. And it is in the aftertaste. But that only happens once in while, and all other times it taste just really rich and creamy. The person I get my milk from says it is what the cows are eating, and season that changes the taste. Right he said it would tastes extra creamy because of spring... and it is totally true because the last few weeks it really has. My daughter loves it and drinks at least 3 cups a day. I had "buy" part of a cow share to get it every week. But I am very happy with the people I get it from. You can see how they milk the cows and jar the milk anytime you want, and it is open 24/7 to pick up your milk.
I would ask wherever you are getting it from why it has that taste, though I am sure it is fine.
It is so ridiculous how hard it is for some people to get it when sugar that is terrible for us is SO SO easy to get.

I've been giving my kids/husband raw milk for years now. I feel so much better about them drinking it. I was never a milk drinker but I have dreams of someday making agave sweetened raw milk ice cream! I'm lucky because I have multiple sources. My best friend owns a natural food store and she sells it. I just recently started to try to give a little bit of raw goat's milk to my 13 month old. I will be leaving her to go to CA on may 25 and I'm nnot getting a whole lot of milk when I pump at this point so I want to have another option for my husband to offe here while I am gone. So far so good.
I also found the taste of raw
I also found the taste of raw cow's milk a bit strong, so I drink raw goat's milk instead. I think it tastes a little less "gamey."
Raw milk sales are a state by state matter, so in Texas you can only legally buy raw milk from the farm. You could try localharvest.org to find one near you. Here is a website that shows what the raw milk rules are in each state: http://www.farmtoconsumer.org/raw_milk_map.htm
If you are interested in raw milk, the book The Raw Milk Revolution by David Gumpert is really interesting.
Raw Milk
Update: I "cheated" and drank the milk a few times this week LOL. I really didn't notice the taste by my third glass. It must be an acquired taste. To get the raw milk, I joined a co-op. The leader of the co-op drives out to a farm every two weeks. Then I pay a $2 conveniencve fee per gallon. Two of my kids didn't notice the new flavor. My oldest child complained after hearing me discuss the taste of the milk with my husband.

raw milk
Hey-
I'm in NY and just ordered some through "udder milk" (a delivery co-op). Its AWESOME. I didnt notice a gamey taste at all--although I have had it from a different source and though it was kinda mediocre. This stuff is SO GOOD though.
