The higher the discipline, the worse it gets?!

Does anyone else feel that over time, the more strict they've gotten with the diet or the more care they take, things seemed to have gotten worse. Maybe it's just coincidental but I feel that way. Maybe I've become more aware. I remember when I was first diagnosed with IC I could eat so much more without feeling negative changes in symptoms.

Anyhow, I was told to cut out chilli, spices etc so I did and now if I have pepper I feel like I've eaten raw chilli!

I used to have tea everyday and coffee sometimes. I could tolerate it. Then the urologist told me I'm not supposed to be drinking tea/coffee so I stopped. When I reintroduced tea about 3 months later, I couldn't tolerate it, same with coffee, in fact I experienced what I didn't before with coffee - horrible constant burning in v area.

The other thing I noticed, symptoms heighten before and during my period now. Whereas before, the urologist used to ask me if I felt any changes around that time and I didn't, instead I felt better! But slowly over time symptoms got worse around my period too.

I used to exercise at the gym quite regularly - cardio and a bit of weights for my legs - I felt great! Then I was told I shouldn't really exercise. Now I can't even do crunches because I feel too sore in v area so when I crunch up it puts pressure on the v - ouch!

I used to wheat regularly (bread, roti) and I don't remember feeling bloated or so uncomfortable that I wanted to stop. Now though even though I've cut out wheat, I feel so bloated at times....???!

One thing I will admit to is now I realise how addicted I was to sugar. Although I didn't feel symptoms increase, I used to crave like crazy but cravings have REALLY died down now - finally a positive woo hoo!!

So in summary, things I could tolerate before, I can't now. Some symptoms have worsened and new ones have come up (constant v burning) over time regardless of me taking care and being disciplined = FRUSTRATION.

I know this is very frustrating. I have heard of other patients getting vaginal burning after treatment started. I think you should bring this up with Dr. Boaz to get an explanation, as he can explain better than me. As for the foods, and exercise, you are asking your body to do a lot of toxin removal now. You are giving your body herbs and probiotics which place a big stress on the immune system and the dotxification organs (gall bladder, liver, skin, bowels, bladder!) If you read that post I put up recently about what people eat after a candida diet, you can see, that when people return to sugar (or those that are already eating a standard Amercian Diet) that these people are creating hidden toxic effects in their bodies, but the immune and other reactions to this poor nutrition create disease processes that might not be seen for years. They are asymptomatic, and then BOOM, cancer or heart disease or diabedes. I hope you are journaling a bit, or at least taking note of your symptoms. Because I realized that I felt worse around ovulation and a little bit around my period, but then began to realize I was feeling considerably better at other times. Also, how long have you had IC?

Hi Mimi,

I'm taking regular notes, they're becoming more and more detailed as time goes on. I do feel worse around my period, I feel burning go up a level and I get constipated before I start but as soon as I have, i'll need to empty my bowels. I also get constipated around ovulation. As for the vaginal burning it's been rather constant that i can't make any connections yet. Recently i've started taking 1 GML and 1 Ear to help with the rash and I think I feel more vaginal discomfort but again I don't know if it's the herbs or something else. I stopped salt and garlic powder for a week but that hasn't made a difference. I will add salt back in and go easy on the garlic powder (i find that's stronger than fresh garlic anyway), might even leave that another week.

I've just been for a poop and my bum feels like it's on fire! That sometimes happens when I'm constipated but also thinking adding in the new herbs might have something to do with it?!

I was diagnosed with IC in March 2013 but i noticed symptoms exacerbate in December 2012. Finally started treatment with Boaz in July 2014.

Before ICAMA were you taking any natural remedies or western medication for the pain?

Yes I was taking antibiotics on and off and lyrica. I also tried homeopathy for a month. Then I stopped it all when I was coming to see Boaz.

it can be really hard when this happens! I definitely think the treatment itself can kind of in a way- strip your body of some of its false defenses while it is healing. I know it makes it seem impossible but hopefully you will start to see some improvements soon!
