Hello,

I have made so much progress since my IC escalated 9 months ago from "manageable" to debilitatingly painful after taking a round of Levaquin from the uro when the bacterial culture was negative.

My symptoms are dramatically improved but one I would expect to be so much better is the night voiding.  This one seems to be plaguing me and I have never had a night's sleep in 9 years.  I get up 3 xs.  Does anyone have any insightful information about this?

Also does the pain after voiding have more to do with the toxins excreted from the yeast, the bacteria or does it mean I am taking the wrong probiotic or supplement?  My diet is definitely not the culprit so I am wondering how these toxins hurt the bladder and will the lining ever heal?  Or are IC people just destined to have this compromised bladder lining for life?

Thank you for any support, it is deeply appreciated.

Sleep is so important to healing.  I hear your frustration and pain.  I had the same issue but it gradually got better and better.  Be sure to let Matia know in you calls so that she could help. I am reading this book called "Good Germs, Bad Germs" a very recent microbiology type book that has some awsome new research that helps me to understand that is is all about the balance.  We are not on our own and work together with all the bacteria and fungi that is around us and in us.  We are only on the tip of understanding how complex the whole system is.  It will be an exciting next 50 years as we learn more.  The only tip I have would be to drink less in the evening and I read somewher it is good to take the probiotic last thing before bed to coat the digestive tract while sleeping to give the probiotics (good germs) time to attatch and block out the candida.  Just my opinion tho.  Visualization and prayer helps too.

That book sounds very good, I will check on that one.  Also thx for the suggestion about the pro-b before bed which makes a lot of sense. Which one(s) do you take

The night time is the time when the immune system is hard at work...So, you are probably doing a lot of house cleaning so to speak... I actually drink a lot of water when I go to bed... It dilutes the toxins... You are dehydrated for about 8 hours when you sleep!  Could you go that long during the day without water???  You probably need more at night to get all that junk out of your system.. I always feel somewhat worse upon waking because I think that is when everything is the most toxic from a night of clean up!  I think you are normal and maybe try drinking more water during the night, even though you don't want to... Don't expect immediate results either because it will take some time for your body to get used to!

Dear Jeanette,  I think you nailed it.  I always intuitively suspected that my body was trying to excrete something at night and this has been going on for like I said about 9 years so I am so over it!!!  For some decreasing water intake at night might do the trick but I can confirm that even if I were to drink 1/2 gal in the morning and stop, I would still get up 3 xs that same night, it is not due to drinking too much water.  I do feel like I have begun the detoxification process in a more effective manner, so I wonder how many years it will take to get the stuff out of my system.  You sound like you know a lot about it.  Any more insights are welcome!AnthonysMom
