Forums:
Hi All,
Thanks a lot to all the users, for all the information I have received on this forum. I am really looking forward to see her
- I have read there are different theories related to cause of IC and IBS but all point to inflammation leading to tissue or layer damage. I guess even if its something else causing IC like symptoms, still same theory applies or in IC only bladder wall is un-repairable?
- If we completely heal inflammation, can we say IC is curable. May be not as the tissue is still defective. What is logic behind remissions ?. Is that just that when you stick to strict diet control, you feel remission
- I have also read that in certain cases IC is very much related to abnormal stress or trauma which causes autoimmune response in body. Is it true that in these cases IC is more progressive and less manageable. I also ha. Is it true that depending upon the cause of IC, symptoms differ and also extent of cure
- What do you think is the most effective component of Dr. B’s treatment approach, which makes it so successful . What will be the first session look like in terms of evaluation , examination etc
Hi Carlos: As I understand
Hi Carlos:
As I understand it, IC is caused by bacterial translocation from gut to bladder due to chronic inflammation in gut. Once gut heals, then body heals bladder. ALso, if we are lucky enough to heal, we really heal we don't just have a remission. To maintain good health, however, we need to abstain from sugar and alcohol and a few other things that made us sick.
WHen I first came to Dr. B, I thought only peole who had been sick for a short time could recover. Now from reading on the forum and reading Dr. B's dissertation, I understand that she has healed people who have been sick for many years.
The healing process is slow and I am impatient but I also know that there is no other place to heal from this. Dr. B should be nominated for a nobel prize.
Each person's treatment is individualized as she has identified many distinct types of IC and she has to treat differently depending how much total body disease the person has. Most of us have other things wrong and yes, you are correct, IC is a misnomer as the inflammatory process affects all urogenital tisse as well as numerous other aspects of the body.
I almost didn't go to Dr. B, I was very skeptical and only went to my first appt for the hell of it. I think you will see when you get there why her patients are passionate about her and that we are lucky to have her.
BTW, I am new to all of this and my bladder isn't healed yet but my severe food allergies are dramatically improving and I have been able to throw away a medicine cabinet full fo supplements and prescription drugs. That is a wonderful feeling.
Because I am a recovering bulimic ( have not practised for 26 years but it is a part of my reality), I was terrifed about having to go on the diet. Actually though, the diet has been empowering on many levels as now I feel that I am taking really good care of my health and doing everything that I can for it. It also gets easier to deal with the restrictions as time goes on because one really wants to heal ( although I did cheat tonight and have some creamy goat cheese and boy was it good.)
I hope that helps.
It doesn't really matter that much that most of the writers are female. I think you will see a great deal of overlap in many of our body symptoms.
Best of luck with this and let us know how you are doing.'
Bonnie
