Forums:
I have IC, IBS and pelvic uneasiness diagnosis from like 3 yrs. My IC symptoms are mild but pelvic discomfort & bloating is too much, enduring constant stretch in inside muscles & tissues . I have tried almost all urology and PT sessions but to no help. Right now I can’t sit without pelvic uneasiness so had to quit my work & now edge of loosing marital relation.
My pelvic discomfort is complex & only upon sitting (sitting even with cushion). Seating with cushion just prevents from bottom dull pain that gets in after sitting few mins on hard surface. After easting food also bloating & pelvic discomfort increases. Anyone tried LEAP MRT test or other allergy testings ?. What might be the easiest and accurate way to see if pelvic discomfort is due to IC or anything else is causing inflammation. Any way to see if this is actually a inflammation from physical cause or any nerve response like I was reading about this myoneuropathy , also any symptom to rule out pudendal nerve ?
Anyone in the forum who has sort of knowledge or experience with PTSDs or chronic stress leading to these disorders, as I have long history of all this (anyone supporting autoimmune response to be the cause as chronic stress causes it). What from psychiatric side can help apart from valium like hypnosis ?. Also any specific or overall body type treatment that has helped ( apart from typical IC treatment). On the IC news I was reading about presence of APF. GP51 proteins in urine. Are tests available for this in market as they can be sure indicators
1. During evaluation would Dr Brizman be able to diagnose what issues I exactly have or it will be still treatment based on symptoms like my PT used to treat when I was working and had insurance
2. Are there any factors that can determine whether her treatment approach will be effective for my case ?
3. If anyone has her book, I would really appreciate if someone can share it with me as going thru extreme financial crisis right now
Thanks a lot
Urgent Opinion Needed
Go see her. She can help you. And your symptoms sound like IC since IC affects many areas in the urogenital region not just the bladder, bloating and nerve pain is common and chronic stress could have led (at least in part) to your condition. SHe is the real deal.
hello
I'm pretty sure that you're feeling crazy and deperate right now. What you don't know yet, is that you've stumbled your way into an incredible place. However, it's going to take a leap of faith on your part. If you can take time to breathe and absorb this site, you will find a group of awe inspiring people with stories very much like your own. If you track a few, you will find that many sounded just as desperate as yourself, in the beginning, wanting to know all the answers. Eventually, you will hear more calm and more hope in their "voices" and gratitude for the chance to heal. With that said, as you will also glean as you sift through the stories, for most, including myself, this is damned hard work - there is no simple pill. If there was, I sure as hell wouldn't be here. As for all the tests, you will find no one here that believes in them. The only thing that they prove is that we have nothing terminal - which can be a great peace of mind. After that, I put myself in the hands of the most inspiring doctor I've ever had the good fortune to meet. From that, I've grown stronger, and have learned to listen to my own inner voice that has been lost in the shambles of my physical self. As hokey as it will probably sound to you at the moment, this is a place where you can find yourself again. As for the mental anguish and the PTSD - I get it. Damn, how I get it. For myself, this has been the hardest part. However, I've been a whack job since I was five - thought God was going to strike me dead, scared of germs, ocd on and off, horrible, awful 27 year marriage, and breast cancer three times - seems to be gone once again. So, I get crazy. I've been on more failed meds for crazy - most of them just made me crazier. Oh, and the ones that seemed to work for my head, just about killed my bladder. So, with Dr. B's help, I'm now fighting for my sanity. I have some incredibly clear days - filled with awe and wonder and peace. Then, I have some REALLY bad days. The thing is, what I have, for the first time in a long time, is hope - and a sense of self.
You are safe here, I hope you come to realize it. All my best and hope
Wow Denise: What a victory
Wow Denise:
What a victory to be having some of those days. it is a fade in of improvement such as we hope for with our bladders. I think it is the same in a lot of life. That is the way it was when my kids slowly and gradually began to sleep through the night. I hope today is a day of clarity- for all of us.

Denise-- Beautiful and honest
Denise-- Beautiful and honest response, as always. This treatment has worked wonders for me and the incredible women I have met on this forum often gave me the strength to get through the tough days- which, are few and far between;)
Welcome!- You have come to the right place. However, there is a leap of faith and an ease that will need to develop regarding what a "diagnosis" is in IC. This imbalance is just that.... it varies in degrees on a wide spectrum of ailments that manifests differently in each of us. The general answer I would give you is .. yes, you can be helped and yes, Dr.Brizman can help you;)

As always, you are both wonderful. :)
Welcome! Like all the ladies
Welcome! Like all the ladies have said you have found a wonderful site and the most companionate and knowledgable Dr. to help us through this very scary and difficult journey! I believe my main contributing factor was definitely stress and antibiotics. I do believe Dr. Brizman will be able to help you, but it takes a lot of hard work and dedication. There is definetly no quick fix when it comes to rebalancing your body and truly restoring your health, rather than attempting to mask symptoms! Best wishes!
Please someone respond to my queries too !!
Hi All,
Thanks a lot for all the positive feedback and encouragement. I would also appreciate if someone can also reply to few of my queries
1. During evaluation would Dr Brizman be able to diagnose what issues I exactly have and label them or it will be still treatment based on symptoms like many PTs/Uro's did to treat when I was working and had insurance 2. Are there any factors that can determine whether her treatment approach will be effective for my case ?. Only thing that helps me is valium, which I take right now 3. If anyone has her book, I would really appreciate if someone can share it with me as going thru extreme financial crisis right now
Thanks a lot
I'm confused - not that it matters - but are you also ICBSPFD?
I'm sorry - I never ordered her book. Nor did I actually ask a bunch of questions at my appointment ( I'm pretty sure that it's some sort of personality flaw : ) ) After following her diet - which you will find under the integrated approach tab, up at the top, and seeing such incredible results, I somehow knew that I was on the right road - I got on a plane and went to see her - I have never regretted this decision. In all honesty, I'm not sure I would have had complete blind faith - without this factor. So, I get your concern. Although, sifting through all the pages of other patients talk about all their different symptoms and the results that they have acheieved - also gave me some peace of mind.
What a typical evaluation and treatment session look like
No words to thank for all the encouraging word. Well I am asking questions -
1. I am a male and I think most patients are females
2. I just don't have money and can't join back my work. So it is like $500 including airfare etc
Though at this point I am all ready to schedule consultation, just the last thing if someone can tell me
Since I don't live in LA, what will be covered in the initial evaluation session ?. I still take valium to help with pelvic dysfunction so I was wondering if I will be able to take at least that during the treatment ?
Thanks a lot
Hey hevincarlos, Dr.
Hey hevincarlos,
Dr. Brizman has treated men. I've seen a couple of posts from a man she treated a while back. I know it's expensive to see her. I live across the country from California, and we were going through a financial crisis at the same time that my health took a turn for the worse. We found a way to get there and I'm so glad we did. I finally feel like I'm on the healing road.
I saw that you are taking valium. I know how much it helps because I had been taking valium for two weeks before seeing Matia and it is amazing how well it takes the pain away. It was one of several drugs I was on at the time. After I sent my intake form in (where I explained my whole health history and all the drugs I was taking) and Dr. Brizman reviewed it, they called and said that she wanted me to stop taking the valium immediately. It was the only drug they said to stop right away. I did some research on valium and it turns out that it's a pretty dangerous drug. I don't want to scare you, but I think you should do some research on it and decide for yourself what to do.
I really want to encourage you to call the office and talk to the staff. You must fill out the online intake form and send it in also. Dr. Brizman will look at it and then let you know if she can help you. That's the first step.
Going to schedule apointment now. My last query ??
Thanks a lot for all the motivation. I am going to schedule appointment this week itself.
I was just wondering - do I really need to stop taking valium before I visit her or its ok to just stop after I see her. Will it effect the evaluation & assessments results on the first visit ?. Is ativan ok os thats too 'No-No'
Also will symptoms become worse initially or they will start to improve right from first week ?
What has been the most difficult part, people haven't been able to stick to, during the treatment ?
Dr. B can help you
Hevincarlos,
You don't need to stop taking anything before your first visit. Dr. B will tell you what you need to do. I was just letting you know what she told me. Dr. B will work with you, she is amazing and very compassionate!
Everyone is different as far as how and when they improve. Treatment is tailored to your specific situation.
Some people struggle with sticking to the diet. It can be difficult, but soooo worth it!
