ok..I know I am not a cook, but I have been broiling ny strip and it is so good.

My question is.....

What type of pan does everyone use?

I wanted to buy a bigger pan than what I have because it only holds one (I am using corningware).

I went to target and every pan states not to use in a broiler.  Corningware, glass, pyrex, stoneware, you name it. So, what the heck am I suppossed to use?   Am I being to anal and should I just go ahead and use a glass pan?

Thanks everyone and happy weekend!

I have no advice, I have not broiled, how do you do it?  My broil button turns on the heat higher in the actual oven part not underneath.  How long do you cook the steak at broil level?  I never make steak cause whenever I try they end up too overdone, or too underdone on top of the stove in the pan.

Mel,My oven is exactly like yours.  The broiler is not underneath but in the top.  I never made steaks either for the exact same reason as you.  Someone on here was saying how they broil their filets and it is sooo good.  So I tried.I used a small corningware that one ny strip fit in.  I sliced a bunch of butter and out it on top.  Preheat the oven by turning on the broiler.  After a few minutes you can put it in.Move your oven rack to the first notch and put the steak right under the hot broiler part.  I did 4-5 minutes a side and viola!  Tastes awesome and so fast!  Just cut it open and see if it is done to your liking.  Nice break from all the chicken I have been eating.  Yumm-o!Beck
