partners with bacteria

has anyone ever had their asymptomatic husband/partner test positive for bacteria? if so, what kind of protocol did matia put him/her on? my husband just got tested (on matia's suggestion) and turns out he does indeed have a bacteria (staphalococcus coagulase negative - if that means anything to anyone!). well, matia and i haven't yet talked about the protocol for him, but really hoping he doesn't have to do anything as strict as we do. that would be really tough to get him to do, especially since he is asymptomatic. anyway, just curious what your experiences have been with this.

thanks!

Aboros5,I do not have an answer but I wish I did- this question is something I have been wanting to know as well. Can you tell me what sort of testing you did- what kind of doctor does this test and how does it work -is it blood test? urine sample?I am sooo interested in the possible response to this. I hope someone who has gone through this can share with us what they did- I am worried about a similair situation with my husband. He is asymptomatic too but what if he has that? Staph infection is no joke! Its not something you really hear about as an STD but I bet its really common! Thank you for bringing up this topic! Mary

Hi Mary,We did the test through United Medical Labs in McLean, Va. Matia suggested that they were a good lab to use and you can just mail in the sample. We did an IC Broth Culture and a Candida Test - both of which are done on a semen sample (didn't have to do any urine or blood testing). All you have to do is get one of those sterile urine sample cups (like the ones you use at the doc's office) and then you just overnight the sample to the lab. i actually just packed it in the box that i usually get my natren probiotic supplements in. i just saved the ice pack and used it with the box/styrofoam that comes in it.as far as the type of bacteria, matia said it doesn't really matter, it's just the fact that it's there. guess they all kind of act in the same way in our bodies. when i first visited matia, she had asked about my husband's health and since he has crohn's and some other random health issues, she thought it was likely that he had an imbalance too which was probably contributing to my issues. i have never had any kind of classic allergic reaction to his semen and he has no symptoms like ours, so never occured to me that he could have any issue. but she said that it wouldn't necessarily be like an "allergic" reaction or immediate burning or anything. she just said that it could contribute to my overall imbalance which keeps me symptomatic. since starting on matia's regimen, we are really careful when we have sex, so as not to mix fluids. but, in the longrun of course, want to address this issue - especially if we try to get pregnant at some point. so, finally had him tested. would love to be able ot give you more info about protocols, but as you know that's what i'm still trying to find out! once i find all that out from matia, i will definitely post here to let you know.hope this info helps!

I remember that my husband tested positive for yeast and some other bacteria in the very beginning of my tretament. We started using condoms immediately. I also remeber Matia saying that when my body gets really strong I will stop reacting to his bacteria at all. Guess what? She was right as usual. It took me a couple of years but we had a healthy baby since. In my case I use a supplement, Matia suggested, after sex, just to be on the safe side. But I should also say that my husband out of solidarity quit eating sugar and all the other junk we both used to eat, so I am pretty sure his Candida levels went down singnificantly.I hope this helps a bit.

this is something I have wondered about as well.  Did you just go online and find the lab and request a container for your urine sample?  I was also wondering which test of their's you used for candida--was it a stool or urine sample?Thanksicnot4me

We did the testing with Dr.Fugazzotto, since he was the one I turned to before finding Matia. Then we did it through the Lab in Virginia, Matia suggested, just ask her for the number. I think they are the only ones in the country now to do broth culture, and they can send the report directly to Matia's office. They will also send you a kit with directions, urine container, etc.

I actually did the broth test w/Fuzagatto as well way back in 02.  He found enterorococcus in my urine.  Does the broth culture test for yeast?  I thought you had to test stool for yeast and urine would only show bacteria?icnot4me

When I turned to Matia, we only sent my husband's sperm to Dr. Fugazzotto. He also  found Enterococcus in my urine, but no yeast, which didn't matter at the time, since I had all the symptoms of having it, eating tons of sugar for years, etc.  I am assuming that if a partner is not eating right (sugar, alcohol, extra weight...) then there is no way to avoid yeast overgrowth.

FOR THE UPCOMING SUPPORT GROUP?  Sounds like Matia could shed more light for all of us on this important issue.
