raw cacao beans?

My boyfriend bought raw cacao beans and I´m wondering if maybe I could eat them? What do you think? I just had my appointment so I would have to wait another month to ask Dr. M.

I eat raw cacao nibs all the time, and Dr. M is fine with it. I'm not sure if beans are different than nibs...?
