Hi!
I noticed that when I ate these in the evening, I woke up puffy in the face in the morning, or they made me feel dried up in my head (does that make sense to any of you?), or I could feel a reaction in my throat. So I stopped eating them, along with all starches, to do a test.
Also, they are so practical to have around to have a quick snack, that I often had them with olive oil and salt on top. Now, when we are supposed to eat lots of veggies and balanced starch and protein, this was starting to become an unhealthy habit...
I don't know how useful this really is, or how long I will keep up with it. But I figured that I would starve the yeast faster this way.
What do you guys think?
Rice crackers
Hey Ballerine! I'm going to send you an email later! I think that you still need starches for benefit and that going without the starches isn't really going to starve the yeast any faster-maybe but I don't know- I mean veggies in a way are carbs right? So I think its really about the combo of things- the ratio that is crucial meat starch veggies. I think if the rice crackers are causing a reaction than maybe you could try making your own or try them again in a month? I think rice cakes are causing me a bit of trouble but they are so convenient that I am unwilling to give them up at the moment. I think I'm fine with brown rice but perhaps the processing that the rice crackers/cakes go through might be somehow a contributing factor? I mean a factory might have things in it that cross pollinate likeI dunno peanut dust or something? I think for folks that are reacting to grains/rice and cannot eat them without flaring so they omit them is more of a get the inflammation under control so I can tolerate the grains later kind of thing. I cannot feel full when I eat without the starches and I get less energy if its omitted no matter how much chicken and broccoli I eat!
rice crackers
I have gotten into the habit of eating them with olive oil and baking them with sea salt. Since I began treatment I have been waking up with puffy fingers, and joint pain (which I only use to have when I eat certain things).. I cant tell if its the rice crackers or not. I know I have no reaction to brown rice, but all other grains do something bad to my body. The rice cakes I am sure cant be good the way I am eating them. Alone, with no protien or vege. I will ask Matia on our call next week. I will be willing to give them up, if she says it will hinder treatment. I will update what she says next Wed, when I talk to her.
Thanks ladies, it's always
Thanks ladies, it's always great to read your thoughts...I'm going to talk to Matia on wednesday too, let's share Mel, ok?True thing, about balance... isn't that the hardest to achieve and to keep, in treatment (and in life too, actually)? The point is, I have a tendency to not only have 1 rice cake, if you know what I mean. I totally impressed my airplane buddy by ingesting a whole pack of them on a flight!! (Plus more veggies than he probably can handle in a week)So funny though, I will probably stick in his mind forever even if we just met for a few hours! haha. But I am diverging... I just hope that when I eat them, I don't directly feed the yeast. That's a thought I don't like!!
