Hi All,

Just wanted to say hello. I am going to Dr. Brizman's in a couple of weeks and I am nervous and excited. Not diagnosed with IC but was diagnosed with a very complicated UTI that has been lingering since May. Symptoms are basically the same. I have been doing broth cultures and many rounds of antibiotics. Though I have slowly been improving (up to 7 different bacterias plus bartonella), I am not tolerating antibiotcs very well anymore. I am taking the plunge and going all natural for treatment. I have been using natural remedies along with the antibiotics so that will not be new for me. I am more scared about the strict diet and how I will do on her protacol. Also nervous about possibly regressing in my progress. I have suffered like most of you with unbelievable pain and aggravating symptoms. Since i have gotten somewhat better, I am so scared to move backwards. Does anyone have the same history as me? If so, I would love to see how you are doing.

Hi Samara and welcome! You've made the right decision deciding to see Dr B. She has such a wealth of knowledge and will help you on your way to healing no doubt.
I just made my visit to her 6 weeks ago and am already feeling much better. My IC started with a UTI as well which took me a few courses of antibiotics to kill off bacteria and then resulted in lingering non-bacterial symptoms. Sounds different to what you had but with that said every case is a little different and the beauty of Dr B is that she works with you and your individual case and tailors her treatment accordingly. Don't be discouraged if you don't see results straight away... It took me a few weeks to start to feel the improvements.
This forum is also great for new recipes and tips on food. It's hard but you get used to it and learn how to be creative and get around it when you're out at restaurants. The plus side of it is that you'll see positive side effects with the rest of your body as well and feel healthier overall!
Good luck!

Thanks! I am excited to go and get healthy! I am so glad you are having good success. It seems that most people do but it can take some time. I am dealing with food allergies now due to antibiotics messing up my gut so Matia will have her hands full with me but I am determined to get well again!

I am so sorry we are going through this. I have read of many with a similar story as yours on other sites. I know Dr. B treats bacterial overgrowth and yeast overgrowth and associated inflammation. You will be in good hands from what I understand. It is scary to go down a new path, but as some have said to me, what choice do we have really? There certainly seems to be no harm with this approach. We are striving to rebalance our bodies.

The reason why you think you have UTI because bacteria was detected by broth culture. Regular doc's office is not detecting anything, right? It sounds like most of our stories here.

Thanks all. It started as a UTI but yes bacteria does keep showing on broth cultures. I am abandoning that approach though. I did just get back a regular culture that was positve for mycoplasma and ureaplasma. That is very discuraging because I took two weeks of antibiotics for that in August. I spoke with Matia's office yesterday and they said not to worry, "she has seen it all". I feel pretty confident in this system. I know that my body is having a hard time tolerating drugs these days.
