Ok, so this is something that cannot be consumed until List 5, but I thought it might give some of us something to look forward to!
At my local independent health store, I found Suzie's Spelt puffed cakes, agave sweetened. It only has puffed spelt kernels, kamut kernels and agave syrup. Ok, so I bought some and took one bite, just because I wanted to check them out. They taste pretty good, and seem like they could be crumbled up and eaten with milk for a cereal treat –– when one gets to List 5 of course! Suzie's also has spelt and kamut flatbreads and breadsticks. You can find out more at http://www.good-groceries.com.
I've really been missing snacks and feeling sad about letting go of sweet things, so I was thinking if I started to find options for myself for later on it would lift me up and motivate me to stick to treatment. We had my son's 2nd birthday party and I made a chocolate (dairly free for someone allergic) cake and I also took a very tiny morsel of that b/c I wanted to know what my guests were responding to! But when everyone left I wanted to eat the rest (I didn't, thank god)!! I so miss chocolate!!!
Anyway, I digress! Just wanted to share the product. I'm going to keep it around the house to remind myself that I am healing and will have healthy treat alternatives when I am ready!
Addendum
I just looked more on the site. Suzie's makes the cakes without the sweetener, too. So, that can be eaten starting from List 1. Another snack alternative for right now.
Spelt Puffs
This is great news. I don't tolerate normal brown rice cakes. If Agave doesn't raise blood sugar, why can't we have them before list 5? Do you know? I am going to see if my health food store has these spelt ones. I also tolerate kamut and have been eating the bread. I did check the site you posted, so I guess if I can't find them at the store, I can always buy them on line. Thanks for posting. It is hard to find good snacks.
