Tolerating Foods

Hi My IC Family;)

  Is it possible to not tolerate a food that you have been tolerating for awhile? I try to have some broccoli for breakfast most mornings and the last few days it seems to be bothering me... but, that seems counter-intuitive to me for this treatment. Any thoughts?

Also, what are the percentages of cooked vs raw veggies we should eat at each meal? I have been 1/3, meat, starch and veggies, but not sure if cooked counts or we need raw at each meal.

hi katie, i noticed that my body became a bit sensitive to certain things that i was able to have before the treatment such as hot sauce. i used to put hot sauce in most of my meals. it didn't make my manageable days any worse or make my pain even worse, but now i believe it has.  one lunch time, i was so bored with my strict diet i decided to add a couple of drops of hot sauce, just enough to feel something in my mouth....oh boy, was i surprised, i felt it within an hr in my urethra...the extra throbbing sensation, so since then no thanks to hot sauce  :o(.  and yes, i believe we're suppose to have 1/3 of each, but from what i remembered she changed it a bit...i think she wants us to have more of the protein and veggies and less starch (2/5 protein, 2/5 veggies, & 1/5 starch).  i'm not as good following 1/3 of each,  what i end up doing is if i have brown rice and meat..later i do veggies and meat.

           I have had trouble with broccoli too.  When my IC first started up, I noticed a lot of burning after I ate broccoli and have since cut it out.  I think it makes sense that if we eat something all the time our bodies may begin to react to it- in general I think that's how some food sensitivities work.  Maybe take broccoli out the the rotation for a month and then add it back in and see what happens? I found the same thing to happen with almonds, fine for a long time and now they bug me. 
            I would love clarification on amounts of raw veg as opposed to cooked ones.  I really don't like eating a lot of raw veggies, especially in Maine in the winter.  I also find that raw is hard for me to digest and doesn't give me the same energy as cooked, but I try to have a little raw and a lot cooked at every meal.
