My husband and i will be traveling to Seattle at the end of the month for 3 days. I am nervous about the probiotics. Do any of you have tips for this? Do i need dry ice? Will that be allowed in checked in luggage? How long will that last? and do i need a special container for the dry ice or does it come in its own packaging? I saw a whole foods in the downtown area in one of the hotel pictures, so i guess worst scenario i can buy a bottle there and maybe ask the hotel if they can refrigerate it for me?
Probiotics
Hi. I live in Costa Rica and there are no probiotics here so i go to the US to buy them. I have no problem at the airport. I have a little cooler that is like a backpack. I buy the gel that you put in the freezer (it keeps the bottles cool, so i bring them with me like a carry on. If you check them and they dont have special packing they will die because it gets very cold there. The best thing natren people told me was on carry on!!. Actually they told me the room temperature for 8 hours still fine.
Good Luck

When I travelled from Canada
When I travelled from Canada to US I packed them in a lunch bag with ice packs and when I got to the air port I told them what they were and they let me take them on with my carry on.
Travelling
I find travelling to be hard mostly because of the change of diet. Carrying the probiotics has not been a problem. As long as you are staying in a hotel and not flying for longer than 8-10 hours at a time, you should be fine with regular ice in a pack with your probiotics. For longer than that, you might need dry ice, but I have no experience with that. I ask for a room with a frig - or minibar and have them empty the minibar.
Hope that helps.
Thank you
Thanks for all your help. :) I feel less anxious about the flight now. I am hoping the diet will be pretty easy as I should be able to find good seafood restaurants in seattle. Do any of you react to shrimp, lobster or crabs? Matia said i can try but some people react. My biggest concern for diet is the breakfast. I'll have to bring some hard broiled eggs and raw veggies i assume.
