Vitamin D

Hi Everyone

I have been on Vitamin D for a few weeks now and I would love to know the purpose of it in relation to our treatement for IC.

I know its a big part of Dr B's protocol for some of us and I wish I asked at my last apt.  I did try it initially about a year ago and couldn't tolerate it then but seem to be OK now.

I read online somewhere that it can boost the immune system so I wonder if that is the reason but if anyone has ever asked this I would love to know what Dr B's response was.  Although I do appreciate it could be different reasons for each of us

Thank you

Dr.B started me on Vit D after only a few weeks & it caused tremendous pain. I was not on it for very long & she never told me why she added it in, in the first place. I feel like I don't have an expaination for a lot of changes:( I am completely aware that she knows what she is doing but maybe I should ask more questions. Unfortunately I am a patient who has been in treatment only a bit over 2 months but have had at least 10 protocol changes. I'm still in a lot of pain, but moved up to list 2 which I am tolerating well. So thankful for the very little small changes:)))))

I've been on it for a short time and caused me pain so we stopped it. However, after i up my probiotics, and hopefully ok with it, she wants to incorporate the D vitamin again. I recently did a blood test, and had very low D vitamin values. I think it's mainly for the immune system, but as in sun, it has many effects even regulating the bm. i try to go under the sun, but recently too hot to tolerate it.

I've been on it for 8 months. I cannot imagine what I would do without it. It took care of muscle pain in a matter of days. I take 3000 UI a day. Love it.
I figured out on my own to decrease it when we were at the beach since I was getting lots of sun rays, after which came excruciating headache. It was too much. When I am not under the sun, I return to a regular dose.

I've been on D since the winter and have had a lot of improvements since I started it.  I remember I had a lot of a.m. urethral burning and I believe Matia thought it would help with that, along with my constipation.  We started with cod liver oil and then switched over to D.  Everyone is different, though.  I know that Matia has posted on her blog that many people don't tolerate D very well early in treatment.

Thanks everyone.  It's interesting I just got over a blinding headache which lasted 3 days.  Real pain behind my left eye which blurred my vision.
Im off to Tenerife in a couple of weeks so think I will ask dr b if I should reduce dose.  Last time I went to Tenerife I came home with one of those 3 day headaches and I wasn't even on D then.
It seems like everyone loves vit d once they can handle it.  She didnt even try me on D until 2 yrs in and even then it took another 8 months to be ok on it.

I only tolerate Vita. D in small doses. If I take more than a few drops, my bladder gets worse. Strange, but my headaches last 3 days also. At the end of the third day, it's like someone throws and switche, and presto! it's gone.
