Hi Ladies,
Hope you’re all doing well! Well, I’ve been in treatment for 8 months and like most of you I’ve had many ups and downs. The good days are as though this awful disease never invaded my body but the bad days are just painful and so discouraging. It’s been about a month now that my worst symptom has intensified. Every time my bladder fills it’s painful and after I void my lower back, urethra, bladder and so on just burn to the point that I just want to curl up into a ball. It feels like hell on earth! These episodes have been occurring more frequently and I’m basically freaking out! I’ve been in contact with Dr. B frequently and she has made many protocol changes. At times I’ll get some relief and then it hits me again. I’m not sure what’s going on and I don’t speak to Dr. B until next week! This symptom has always been one of my biggest problems but not at this level. It has just intensified and I don’t know what to think. I haven’t had much die-off through this process so I’m not sure if this is it. Has anyone had any experience with this symptom and can offer me some words of wisdom that can help me better understand what is going on? I just need to know that this will all go away!
Wishing you all lots of health.
Hi there, I am not in
Hi there, I am not in treatment with dr. B yet (this fall) but I am working w a good naturopath and am beginning to integrate the icama diet in addition to what I am doing. I can say that when I am eating better my symptoms are always worse at first and then around day 14 I usually have a shift of some sort. I also limit my garlic and tend to choose more cooling foods.like cucumbers without the skin and seeds. To me it sounds like you are dealing with die off and are shedding inflammation which can be terrible. Usually it seems the healing crisis has to hit at some point which is so hard. Clearly dr. B is changing your program which means she's on top of it and I imagine she is turning the therapy to me more nurturing and than aggressive. Hang in there. Change is possible! I believe it for you and everyone else here!
I wish I could tell you but in general any change is perceived as good change. Hang in there, let me know how you are doing. I am sure at some point I will be there too very soon.
My Ayurvedic colleague once told me that the spasming after urination is because the bladder can becoming a dry pond while healing. Also summer is the pitta season which means that inflammation is usually up more than other seasons. Winter will be a good time for all new shifts to come and the strange thing about this disease is often it seems the symptoms do not follow the exact pattern of therapy. I understand from my own work with clients that it take 90 to 120 days for cellular changes to come and whatever we are doing today will begin reaching the cells of our bladder in 40 days (relief). So maybe you are experiencing 40 days ago? I always tell myself that when I am doing everything right and yet my symptoms are worse...could be from over a month ago...
hope this helps a little. I can't wait to be on the exact path soon.
Sending good thoughts, Carey
Carey and Ally, thank-you both for your much needed support, knowledge and thoughtful words. I contacted Dr. B again today and she completely switched things around. I’m hoping this will be the answer to my prayer.
Ally, I’m so glad to hear that things have improved for you. You’ve certainly turned a huge corner and I’m so excited for you. I’m hoping that day comes to me soon. With all of these ups and downs, I’m having a difficult time evaluating my progress. I have to be healing with all the HEALTHY changes I’ve made in my life.
Carey, I wish you the best of luck on your journey to health. You have come to the right place. The support and knowledge you will receive from both Dr. B and the wonderful ladies on this forum is priceless.
Thanks again!
Sandi, big hugs for you.
Sandi, big hugs for you.
Two things come to mind.
First, 7-8 months is a time where big shifts are happening. In her Dissertation, Dr. B talks about how you have to follow the sx and whatever the body needed in the initial months, it needs something COMPLETELY different as you get further into healing. This is good news. The challenge for her is to find EXACTLY what your dynamic, healing body is asking for at this pivital point. As we have all discussed on here, sometimes it is trial and error. Our imbalance is actually mutliple imbalances which is why it is so hard for a Candida Dr. or a regular TCM doctor to treat. Because we often have excess AND deficiency sx in combination and they are waxing and waning as we come back into balance. She is really having to do some detective work at times and I know how frustrating this can be!
Secondly, could there be ANYTHING you are putting on or in your body that might be suspect? I only ask because something that was NOT bothering me for 6 months in treatment suddenly started bothering me horribly. it was a topical cream. My body/immune system suddenly said: NO MORE! So I had to ask if you have any daily exposures of concern. Remember it could be seemingly benign.
What does she have you on now?
If we don't excel at health, the only other option is disease.
Hi Mimi, I’m so glad you responded! Hope you’re doing well. I’ve been going back and forth reading her Dissertation hoping I can gather more info on what is happening to me at this stage. I plan on asking more in depth questions about my progress and the shifts my body is going through on Friday (My appointment). Dr. B has been so incredible this past month with all of the emails I’ve been sending her. She has made so many protocol changes and I think she has finally got it!!!! I’m taking RP and a small pinch of MEGA. She removed everything else. My symptoms have improved about 90%. Every month at some point I go through a rough patch and then things feel normal. This month it was different. My symptoms lasted longer and they were more intense. Everything you explain in your response makes complete sense to me and I honestly hope you’re right and that my body is changing and positive things are happening. If pain is what I need to feel in order to turn a corner then “BRING IT ON”!
As far as products, I’m using BOMAMED products (body wash, body cream and shampoo – conditioner). I did use sunscreen on vacation at the beginning of July (BOMAMED) as well. I ruled this out because I was not in pain while using it. It’s so difficult to figure this out. I’m on List 3 and I feel like I’m eating more like I’m on List 1 -2. I’m not trying new foods and I keep my recipes very simple. I’m playing this safe but for me to move forward I have to get over the fear of adding new foods to my diet. It never seems like the right time.
Thanks so much for your response. I sincerely appreciate it.
Sending you back lots of hugs,
Pain with voiding has been
Pain with voiding has been one of my main symptoms since the beginning. Dr. B says that IC is largely related to the lymph. Every time you void, the lymph excretes. When our bodies are out of balance, this release of toxins causes a lot of pain due to the amount of toxins we have built up. That is how Dr. B explained pain following voiding when I asked her about it.
Tinkerbell, thanks for your
Tinkerbell, thanks for your response and explaination. I will be asking her that question on Friday. Has this symptom improved for you? I hope it has for you because it feels horrible!
It's not gone completely, but
It's not gone completely, but it's improved a whole lot. It goes up and down, but it's not as bad as it used to be.
So glad to hear it got better
So glad to hear it got better! Just wondering do you feel the burn every time you void or does it happen occasionally? For me it gets worse at a certain time of the month and then the pain goes away.
I wouldn't say occassionally,
I wouldn't say occassionally, but not every time. It depends on lots of things... time of day, what protocol I'm on, if I'm having die off, etc.
Sandi, SO GLAD you are
Sandi, SO GLAD you are getting back on track. I love me some RP!! When my inflammation is up, I have pain after I empty my bladder. I think like tinkerbell said it is lymph and detox through our poor bladder and sometimes the body is saying: I don't want any more of this herb or probiotic right now. I need to take a different course." I think this is very common. Also the cycling through more uncomfortable days each month, depending on your hormone levels is so normal too. I have certain things flare up more around ovulation or my period. If things are feeling rocky you might schedule your appts a little closer together or schedule an extra appt to get all of your questions answered. Of course as soon as you do this you will be feeling better immediately :)
Since you asked, I am having a very good week. One of my best yet! I have a lot in my protocol right now, so I get a little nervous about that as we are working on several things at once. So fingers crossed I can have some more great days!
If we don't excel at health, the only other option is disease.
FANTASTIC! Things can only get better and soon enough you will be one of the success stories we all love to read!
These last couple of months I have scheduled appointments 3 weeks apart. I was always under the impression that appointments needed to be every 4 weeks until Lynn mentioned to me if I wanted them closer. I’m also contemplating flying in to have an “in office” appointment. Not sure what the difference is, but if you or anyone would know whether I could benefit from it, I would appreciate it.
Thanks again!
Sandi- We sound alike in some
Sandi- We sound alike in some ways. I am also on 4 rp and a speck of mega right now. Wishing I had more time to discuss what is up . Did she give you anymore info on what that particular protocol is doing?ALso- just made a bunch of 3 week apart appointments.
Hi Deir, I've always found
Hi Deir, I've always found that our stories sounded similar. I'm presently on 2 rp and 1/8 mega. I have not gotten any explainations yet. I speak to Dr. B on Friday and I've made a list of questions that I'm hoping she can answer. I plan to continue to make my appointments 3 weeks apart and if I have to every 2 weeks. I feel I need more contact with her at this point. Things are happening and I'm not sure if it's possitive change or just another extended branch of this awful disease.
How are you doing? I would love to know how things have progressed for you. If you want to email me please feel free and we can discuss our treatment.
Thanks for responding and I'll let you know what Dr. B's explaination is about the protocol.
Deir, I thought RP was to
Deir, I thought RP was to help restore tissues (mucosal and others ) "add moisture" for deficiency presentations. I think this is what Bonnie said when she was taking TCM classes. And the mega is helping to manage the small intestine and regulate immune response/reduce inflammation. This is where we need a lot of help. That is how I see it from researching Natren probiotics. Not 100% sure about why the RP but it seems to be a winner for those of us with defeciency over many years. Slow to get sick, slow to heal. Sigh.
If we don't excel at health, the only other option is disease.
Lactobacilli megadophilus and
Lactobacilli megadophilus and Bifido create hydrogen peroxide as a byproduct of their metabolism. The bad guys in our gut do not like the acidic environment that this creates and they die a splendid death. This reduces inflammation and helps restore good gut flora.
If we don't excel at health, the only other option is disease.
Thanks. Yeah- I know about
Thanks. Yeah- I know about the basic stuff, I was hoping for more specific. i am anxiously waiting for my next appointment. This makes sense though if my case is more about damaged tissue andless about microbial imbalance. I am currently taking literally a speck of mega.
Hey- don't "sigh"- from what I have read, you seem to be healing relatively quickly! ;)
