I should have probably posted this question on the Spritual Discussions Forum, so i apologize if the content is not appropriate here.
I am just curious if anyone has any recommendations for an easy yoga class/meditation in Los Angeles area. I've been listening to yoga/meditation music at work, and realized it's really calming me. I've been wanting to change the negativity surrounding me for the last year and many years before that, I want to start yoga and meditation in a IC-friendly way. The thing with yoga is, most classes are thought in a flow style and not sure if that would be too strenuous on my bladder.
I came across a type of meditation called Sahaja, taught in Tarzana, CA. They offer free classes and focus on the awakening of Kundalini and energizing the chakra points in your body. Below is the link to their online video that really intrigued me, however upon more research, some x-members accused them of being like a cult, and i am too afraid to even give it a try now. Here is the video though and i think it's interesting.
Yoga
Not sure where you live but I go to In Yoga Center in Valley Village. They have a website and they describe all the classes they have.
Good Luck!
Try Pilates class
I have had success taking Pilates rather than Yoga. Yoga continues to be "too much" for my body to handle. The beginning Pilates has been great! You can strengthen your core and gain strength throughout your body which will give you a more positive outlook. While doing this you may like to explore the different facets of yoga here and there.
There is an artist online Snatam Kaur who has some very beautiful chants in which you can just listen/meditate. I do believe she is associated with the Kundalini group that you mentioned, however her music is a gift.
Tammera
Thank you
Nancy, thank you for your recommendation. Yoga Center is pretty close to me and it looks like a really nice studio. Is there any specific instructor you recommend? I am assuming it's still better to take a beginners class even though my ego wants to be with more intermediate students. :)
Tammera, Snatum Kaur looks so peaceful, i wish that could rub off on me by listening to her chants:) Just so curious about Kundalini yoga. I wonder if Matia has any thoughts on it. It just seems so involved that it scares me off a bit. I heard of pilates and know it's very popular. I thought that was harder than yoga. Like you sweat a lot, use props etc? Do they have levels for pilates?
Thanks girls, can't wait to try them.
