For those of you who can eat yogurt and are located in the New York metropolitan area -- I recently discovered a source for AMAZING plain, thick, homeade Greek Yogurt. It's made by Kesso Foods and it comes in clear plastic containers with Red lettering on the lid that reads "Greek strained yogurt." It's made from whole milk. There is a lower fat variety that comes in a white tub with pink and green writing -- but I would be careful about the lower fat version because it tasted sweet to me, even though the package claimed that it had no added sugars.
You can find it at the original store where it's made, Yoghurt Place, 7720 21st Ave in Elmhurst Queens (very close to LaGuardia), or in the city at Yoghurt Place II, 71 Sullivan Street. It's also carried in various speciality stores in the city and Brooklyn.
This stuff is worth tracking down. It's homemade with love the old fashioned way and it blows all its supermarket competitors away (even Fage Total).
