Tuesday Greetings, Icers....

Does anyone suffer from continuous and stubborn TMJ problems in spite of longterm treatment?

Are there any senior citizens out there?

Hey LoLo,
Your defination of a senior citizen?  Length of time with Matia or age?
I'm 52 and have been with Matia for approx 18 months.  I've never had TMJ symptoms - as I've learned it doesn't mean that I won't wake up tomorrow with them.  MAN, some strange things have happened.  What I do know, is the frustration of thinking all of this isn't just going to go away.  HOWEVER, I am so much better than when I started.
Hang in there,

Hi Lolo, Although I am not a senior, I have had continuous TMJ issues. They come and go much like the rest of my physical "oddities" ;) I once asked Dr. B about TMJ and she shared with my that much of those muscles correspond to the large intestine meridians and will clear when the digestive system is clear. Hope you feel well soon,
Katie
P.S. Hi Denise! I sent you an email the other day, but I am not sure I have the right email... I may have sent it to some random person ...lol;)

Hi Katie,
I never got an e-mail from you.  If you sent it from this site - I've never known it to work.  So, I would love to hear from you - I'm at Greatworker1@hotmail.com.  The 1 is the number one - not the letter l.
Take Care!
PS - anyone feel free to chat with me

It's been awhile since I've posted and my heart is full.
I'd forgotten that reassurance and care that comes from you fellow icers. Thank you both for replying.
Yes...good to remind ourselves that whatever arises for one, could come up for another, another dy and to hang in there!!! thanks!! I needed that!

AND, to know someone else is sharing the same symptom sure lessens the concerns..and gives me some courage.
I really appreciate the info re large intestine meridian..I am trying to understand these connections and it does make sense right now with the current symptoms
Warm hugs to you each....oh yeah,, senior to me means over 70....you guys in your 50's and younger are but babes n the woods....IC came on in my 60's and I have been with Matia for 2 1/2 years with much success!!!!

I'm 63 and I have had TMJ for many years.  The best treatment I have found is physical therapy.  It does wonders.

Hello Clueless.
Thanks for the info.
Would you tell me the type of physical therapy?

find it very interesting that from the time I began treatment wih Mati almost 3 years ago, my constant long lasting TMJ problems stopped.
Now, that I am at the balancing of Probiotics without Rehmannia Peonie (sp?) or other Bomamed herbs, it has begun again....really makes me think there is a definite connection to the treatment...don't get it though?

The oral surgeon that checked my jaw joints recommended the physical therapists.  I had a lady and a guy.  The lady used ultrasound to relax the muscles and then worked on the jaw joints both inside and outside my mouth.  SHe kind of stretched the the joint - hard to explain.  The guy worked on trying to loosen up my upper torso muscles by gently messaging and stretching them.  He gave me exercises to do at home.  That was a couple of years ago, and I have kept up the exercises.  I still have trouble with it, but it stays pretty much the same.  The x-rays the surgeon took showed my joints were not rounded anymore on both sides.  I also wear a retainer at night to help keep me from grinding my teeth.  That helps a lot.  I hope this helps you.  The probiotics might be drying out the joints.  I think they do that.

Thanks Clueless....this pain is letting up now...almost as if it's getting better as the large intestine balances out...very interesting.
I,too wear a mouthquard at night and have for years....Matia advised against any bodywork so have not gone to chiropractor in 3 years or had any other kind of treatment, but must say this past while have considered..I'll keep yur info in my "healing" file....
