Colonoscopy

Has anyone on this board gone through a colonoscopy lately?  If so, what did you use for a prep?  I'm going to be scheduling one soon and am worried about getting through the prep without getting a major bladder flare.  Not looking forward to this procedure, that's for sure.

I would do a pubmed search to see if its actually a worthwhile test to get.  I'm pretty sure there's confusion as to whether its an effective screening measure.

Yowza, it sounds awful!  Good luck!

I had this procedure done Aug 15 of 2011.  The following day, I had a laparoscopy.  It was supposed to be a dual lap/cystoscopy.  I am thankful that the cystoscopy didnt happen.  The prep is not fun.  I recall having to drink a gallon of prep fluid.  Its supposed to take 2 hours to flush you out, I sipped it for about 8 hours, just not pleasant at all to drink.  This is my 2nd colonoscopy within 5 years in my mid 30s..  I guess now I had signs of IC earlier in my mid30s and didnt know it so they did a colonsocopy.  They found nothing the 1st time.  The 2nd time, they told me I had gastritis (sp) and to go back in and speak with the nurse.  I never went back because then a week later, I found this website and was tired of the mounting medical bills. I agree that for me, it didnt solve anything. Sorry I'm not move more of help but this is what happened twice for me.

The test can detect colon cancer, precancerous polyps, Crohns, and other bowel diseases.  I am in my 60's and have had IBS (loose stools) for about 40 years.  Matia has not been able to do much with my IBS symptoms.  Two MD's mentioned having the scope done.  Matia thought it wasn't a bad idea.  You just never know.  The prep is hard to get through.  My husband recently had one and had to drink that gallon jug of stuff every 10 min.  Not fun.
