Hey everyone!
I am hoping someone can suggest something for a sinus infection. My husband had what appeared to be allergies yesterday-( its southeast us pollen time) and now it appears to have developed into a full blown sinus infection. Guess what the doctor gave him at the office? A "just to be sure"
prescription for antibiotics! Of course he didn't go for that! Do you any of you use a particular formula? herbs? for this illness to help with getting over a sinus infection? I might have the right herbs here at home but I don't know what exactly to give him. I have gan mao ling and goldenseale oregano oil and ear formula on hand at the moment. Have any of you had success with any natural remedies- specifically traditional chinese medicine/diet to support healing up this sort of illness? He has yellow mucous, feeling hot and cold, upper nasal congestion- constant runny nose and that fun dull headache. I know yall aren' doctors you just play one on TV but any help is appreciated in this situation - I always wondered how to best handle sinus infections. again I realize any info is taken with precaution and with ultimate responsibiity. Thank you for any help in advance!
Mary
I don't know if he would
I don't know if he would really need something as strong as the oregano I think the goldenseal should be good. That is what Matia gives me if I have any sinus issues normally. YOU might think about giving him some probiotics appart from them too. That goldenseal will often help my head too. BTW if your husband went with you to LA she might be able to treat him I am not sure but it cant hurt to ask.
Now This is only my opion so your own risk. I wouldn't mess with the Chinese herbs tho there are too many dispstions to take in to decide if the right one is good for him. Just because it is for colds doesn;t mean it is good for him.
Neti pot?
Have you ever used a Neti pot? They are very popular here in Texas. Austin is bad for allergy suffers and everybody swears that a Neti pot nasal wash is great for keeping your sinuses clear. You can buy them at most health food stores. Oprah did a show on them recently and they flew off the shelves here in town. It's best to use sea salt when making water solution. I've read that sea salt helps kill bacteria in the nasal passages. I agree with Nicole on the goldenseal. Lots of rest and fluids. Good luck. Tammy
