Is anything canned ok?  I thought was a no-no b/c of aluminum & preservatives & such??

I tried it last night. I think it went fine. I would assume fresh chicken stock is of course preferable but on occasion this I bet its okay. good question to ask Matia though. I think frozen/ or fresh vegetables are way better than canned.Alot of us don't much time to cook. This seems like a good shortcut to soup.I've never made fresh chicken stock. I keep thinking its crazy complicated or something. Mary

Mary, it is really easy: I peel 1 carrot, 1 parsley and 1 onion, 4 chicken whole legs with thighs (I take the skin off) and boil it and then simmer it in Poland Spring water for 1 hour. THAT IS IT!You can then either eat it the way it is, it is absolutely delicious with salt and other spicies you tolerate or you can make a gazillion different soups with it.

The aluminum I am sure isn't great i think they are lined with plastic not that that is better. I can't eat chicken myself and I only eat organic so not going to toss out a whole chicken.  I don't really eat the broth that often and it's my only source of canned like i don't eat canned tuna. I don't think Matia ever told me not to eat canned.  Sometimes you can't be perfect either. I had found these when going on vacation last yr and i needed things to bring that were easy to make in the hotell. Sometimes it's good to have these things on hand. Also I am approching hurricane season here  in FL. I like to have these on hand as an ER. Today we had Hail and the weather has been crazy. It's been like this all week. I don't recomend them for everyday though but nice to have on hand for that busy day or emergency or bad flair when you can't cook. I make egg drop soup with veggies with mine. It is a fast soup. I will add spinage to it cause I don't really have to cook the spinage it cooks as I drop it in. I just put some salt in and some green onion with the broth when it's going up to a boil then i scrable the egg and add it toss the chopped spinage and it's done in 5 min.
This diet is kind of demanding and I can't always be like that.I haven't eaten out in 5 yrs and I am sure some do but you don't know what your getting when you eat out but you got to live too ya know just all in moderation.
