I took Dr. Shen's Zong Gan Ling from iHerb today for a cold. When I read the bottle it said this product contains lead which is known to cause brith defects and reproductive problems. The herb was manufactured in California. I am going to order Plum Flower Zong Gan Ling from Matia instead. Hopefully, I saved some of you from making the same mistake.
sharon,I have seen those lead
sharon,I have seen those lead warning stickers on the Plum Flower supplements as well. Can't remember if it's on the zhong gan ling specifically or not. You all may not see those stickers if you're buying supplements outside of California, because it's CA state law that any lead must be disclosed. Now as for the source of the lead and the danger, I have no idea.Carol
Fantastic
Thanks for sharing the info. on Zong Gan Ling. I am thankful that these will work until I get the Plum Flower brand. I was hoping it was a "Califonia thing." LOL
Lead
Sharon, I had the same issue. I don't have a bottle in front of me, but from what I remember the Proposition 65 (my brain fog, I'm probably off on the #) warning sticker on the bottle USUALLY says that this product MAY contain lead or ANOTHER substance known to cause cancer, meaning that it could be another herbs or something else. Anything that is a known carcinogenic such as barb-qd food could potentially cause cancer. Maybe you could find out from the company what exactly in the herbs is potentially carcinogenic. There are certain supplements such as Mao Huang that are perfectly safe to use when taken under supervision but when taken in large doses like anything else can be deadly. I really hope its not lead and something more benign.
