Hello everyone
I recently did part 2 of my kinesiology degree where we embarked on food testing. You either hold the food/supplement on the cheek or in the mouth and test the arm indicator muscle which is a simple way of seeing whether the person can/can't it.
One thing I tried was cinnamon bark...I just held the capsule against my cheek and I got a very strong indicator response that my body needs it. I didn't know anything about this supplement...but it turns out that cinnamon bark changes the ph of the gut which means it is impossible for candida to thrive there. A lady I met on my course swore by it...as she suffered from candida over growth for many years. She was prescribed cinnamon bark from her kinesiologist and hadn't had a yeast infection in 18 months. She said she experienced terrible thrush, foggyness and even candida in the mouth before taking this supplement, suffering almost permanently with it. Since starting it she said her head felt really clear, digestion was fantastic and best of all no thrush outbreaks.
Just thought I would report this in case anybody really suffers with yeast...I certainly am lately boo hiss...but my bladder is absolutely fine. No symptoms now for nearly 2 weeks....hope it lasts...it's hard to tell when you have turned a corner with this problem grumble grumble!

Boo his
Hi Ria, Am I the only one that gets the biggest kick out of your posts! (I mean this with affection and not in a mean spirited way). You have a funny sense of humor, even when I don't understand some of your English slang or expressions. I lost you this time on the boo his? Could you explain what that means. This is a first I have read about cinnamon and Candida. Cinnamon is sweet and I have found that anything that tastes sweet adversely affects my Candida issues. Curious if anyone else has had any positive results with cinnamon?
Boo Hiss
HilariousWe Boo and Hiss at something, or someone we don't like.Sounds like 'boooooooo' 'hissssssssss'Like a crowd watching a football game might boo and hiss at an unpoplular player.
Boo Hiss
Gotcha!
That's my stage talk
That's my stage talk sorry...I work in the theatre outside of work. When I say Boo Hiss that means sod it the crap has hit the fan again chuckle chuckle. Just a correction though...you don't eat cinnamon! Cinnimon BARK. It's bitter, comes im capsules. If I ate cinnimon I would be up crap creek without a paddle as well hehe! So yes the bark is ground up in capsules and believe me it tastes nothing like cinnimon lol!x
Cinnamon bark
I sprinkled a tiny bit of cinnamon on my rice for breakfast thinking it would be nice to have some flavor. Big mistake!! I had a painful reaction. Talk to Matia before adding any outside supplements.
You arn't meant to eat the
You arn't meant to eat the actual cinnimon. The bark is bitter. If I eat cinnimon I pay for it but the bark is fine. I take it in caps as it is bitter.
Cinnamon verses the bark
First I just to clear up that I'm not asking about Cinnamon b/c I am planning on treating my IC with Cinnamon. I think she has made it pretty clear how she feels about this. I am asking just to get educated, I have some loved ones that don't have IC but do have Candida issues that might benefit and maybe down the line if Matia agrees this could be incorporated. As far as I knew, a cinnamon stick is a piece of bark from the cinnamon tree. I was not aware of any difference between cinnamon or bark. I looked it up on wikipedia.org and it seems to confirm that. Someone else on this post mentioned that the cinnamon used in Chinese medicine is different.I would like to get more info on this subject. If anyone can explain me the differences or correct me if I am wrong, I would love to learn more abou this....Cecilia
Cinnamon
I didn't know that Cinammon was a yeast fighter- I thought it was just delicious! I used to work in chinese herb clinic years ago and we frequently mixed it up into tea formulas for patients. It's true it is nothing like the powdered stuff from the grocer. It is much more potent and fragrant. I beleive it was in the section of the clinic that was for herbs that moved chi- like circulation improving properties. I think it is a KING herb- and in TCM those are valuable herbs like ginger or ginseng cause they have many applications depending on the imbalence. I do feel Ria- and I know that you are meaning to offer helpful advice on this topic here- but honestly for most people whether they ate it sprinkled on oatmeal or took it in capsule form it would burn and flare people like really badly and that could jeapardize someone's treatment. For example- I got sick and I needed to take some herbs under Matia's guidance that treated my flu. I got well but those very strong herbs BURNED my bladder really badly and it took me a week- after like only 3doses of the cold and flu herb capsules to get back on track with my bladder. I got rid of the flu but it in the short term kind of set me back for a minute. So I want everyone to understand this point-there is soooooo much to understand about applying herbs to the body especially when one is treating chronic illness. It's more than matching up healing properties to a symptom-(cinammon= gets rid of yeast.) but I didn't know this until I went into treatment. I realize now how much I didn't know and how much I kind of complicated my condition by the things I did in the name of alternative healing using formulas ( cinammon- fights yeast) like that.I am much more careful about suggesting supplements/herb things to others - unless I know for sure that they could not unitentionally cause someone harm. I now realize how little I know even though I thought I knew alot fresh out of healing school. It's a pretty humbling realization but one I had heard from many a 3-4 year TCM student. I have regrets about the herbs I took without guidance thinking they were harmless and natural but I may have screwed up my hormones from doing that. (I am not saying I am not a fan of natural medicine I AM or that its all dangerous I'm saying that I have a BIG respect for it and for just how powerful it can be and I do not causally hand out advice without caution and without suggestions folks get herbal supervision) when I wa sfirst learning about wholistic medicine and candida I was an eager student and applied my learnings in what I thought was correct kind of treatment. It was more wholistic than western mediicne but it was still a treat the symptom model when I look back.I was still dependent on those herbs. I went to see a naturapath and we did appllied kineousology energy diagnosis and we determined I had systemic candida and needed all these different herbs/homeopathics to get well. Here is the disturbing part- while those herbs may have been what my body's energy field "said" I needed they made me IC extremely worse. I went from having a mild tolerable form of IC to a "I'm in hell IC" It's something I have not yet been able to understand. If my body using kinestheology- (the energy reflexes) respnded positively to certainn medicines as my treatment formula why did it mess me up so bad? Is that supposed to happen? I think the herbs I was given were WAAAAAy too strong and I cleansed so hard that it created an influx of inflammation. I had to leave the doctor as he ended up making me worse though he had helped many of my other friends who had systemic candida. The presence of IC complicates mattersof applying herbs severely. He had no experience treating IC. I should have known better - now 2 years later we are still working on bringing down the inflammation to a 0 level after about 5 months of treatment with that naturapath. In trying to treat my body through my books and herb courses in massage school I had a really kind of shallow understanding of systemic candida. It was like okay- I can use this herb which kills yeast and it will fix my problem! but it's waaaaay more than that. I want to put a warning out there though on this one- It is my understanding that cinnamon is a VERY VERY hot herb and is unsuitable unless you are on list 5 or Matia says it all good. I love that we are sharing all these amzing herb facts and information- its something I enjoy reading and learning about. I will be a student of wholistic medicine specifically herbology and nutrition my whole life. But everyone please note that unless Matia says its cool for you to take something - do not assume it is okay for you even though its okay for someone else or even if its got effective power like fighting yeast and you've got yeast issues. I would not be surprised if ( I don't know for sure)that perhaps Matia uses cinnamon in her formulas mixed with other tempering and balencing herbs for either IC or mentruation problems. sometimes its all about the combo of herbs that make them safe for Icers. this is not a judgement and I do hope Ria you continue to share what you learn- knowledge is power always write a reminder for for new readers/patients who do not know - that it may not be okay for them. alot of us want to expediate our treatment especially in dealing with yeast and there are no shortcuts! this is just my own opinion /experience that I needed to share. Thanks! Mary
Honeybee's post
Your post was great & important... I will also say that I too went from mild IC to IC hell as you say after working with a naturopath... he used similar techniques as yours and actually got certain things I came in for better.... but in the long run like you say it was likely waaaaay too harsh on my bladder and could've driven imbalance/illness deeper into my body. Those who find Matia early on in their IC days are beyond lucky.
What you said
"Those who find Matia early on in their IC days are beyond lucky." That is how I feel, soooo lucky to have found her early. I've only been suffering with this bladder problem for about 5 weeks! Before that I was never sick and I have no other health issues. After the UTI I got never went away I knew it had to be something worse. I had a sonogram of my ovaries and uterus and looked good so I knew it had to be the start of IC. After reading all the depressing stories and seeing all the people suffering and on so many drugs i knew there had to be a better way to deal with this. Luckily for me I did not stop researching IC and I found Matia's website. I knew I had to see her. I made an apt. and I go on the 27th. Raquel was so nice on the phone and she too said how lucky I was to have found Matia so soon in my journey with IC. Hopefully I can beat this quickly but I am in for however long it takes. I wish you all speed in your own healing! This forum has been such a help to me.
ditto!
Me too with the naturopath making my IC worse--well I went to 2 different TCM docs. They told me to eat SOY. Can you believe it?? No wonder I was such a mess.
