Hi Ladies,
Well, Dr. B has suggested for me to purchase digest a lac! For those of you who have added this into your protocol, how was the transition of adding it in?
I remember searching on this forum when I added in bifido and finding an avalanche of comments but when I search digest a lac....poof...only one or two hits;) I called Natren to find out more about what the product does and it seems to act differently than mega and bif... it is not a naturally occurring bacteria in our intestines, but rather a sort of sweeper bacteria/enzyme? Would love more info regarding this probiotic if you have it;)
Thanks,
Katie
Hi Katie, I'm new to the
Hi Katie, I'm new to the forum, but I've been with Dr. B for about a year. I took Digest a Lac for a little while and it was a positive experience for me. It was a while ago, but for me I think it helped things come out more "smoothly". Hope that helps!
Digesta Lac
Hi Katie,
OK - maybe I should keep my big mouth shut : ). BUT - Dr. B says it normally doesn't bother anyone - BUT - I'm not normal. Slowly over the month I got more wound up - I didn't realize that it was out of control until I became a crazy person - remember my childlish outbreak when no one responded to my cries for help? Well, it's been pretty much determined that the Digesta Lac and I weren't ready for each other....However, rember we're all different. Unlike me, if this happens, you might want to listen to your body and not push through something that you just can't quite manage.
Please keep in mind that anxiety is now the number one thing that is causing me distress. I should have been more careful.
Thank you both for your
Thank you both for your responses! It is such an incredible help when I have these questions to be able to post them here and feel supported. As I am sure you have experienced, it is difficult to communicate to my thoughts and all the questions I have via email with Dr.B;)
Lisa- So nice to "meet" you. I am glad you have begun to post. It sounds as though you have made some great progress. I hope you are feeling better than the other day though... I get how tough those "off" days can be;)
Denise- I NEVER want you to keep your big mouth shut. Keep sharing those experiences in "your" way.
Thanks!
I've been taking it for about
I've been taking it for about 2 months now. Started out 1/2 cap and now take a whole one 3x a day. I didn't have any issues with it that I was aware of.
Thanks Christine! It is
Thanks Christine! It is supposed to arrive today and I am excited in a strange sort of IC treatment way to add it in. I figure that each step of adding something new in, either a food or a supplement, is one step closer to wellness;)
How are you feeling, Christine? Are you on list 4 now?
Hi Katie, I am doing pretty
Hi Katie, I am doing pretty well. I haven't felt much of a change in the past 3 months but it's been fine since most days I don't go above a 1 in discomfort. I can eat most foods and am between list 4 and 5. Last night I even went out to a chinese buffet and had some sushi (not raw fish, that is sashimi) sushi is things like a california roll. I had it with pickled ginger and wasabi and I was fine!
Christine, that is wonderful
that you are between list 4 and 5! I am just so happy for you. I remember when you were on list 3, it is so good to see you progressing. I can eat the "sushi" rolls with just avocado and cucumber in them, and I dip them in a little olive oil with salt. So good. It's my "take-out" meal when I am shopping in town. I just bring my olive oil and salt with me. :)
Katie, I get excited, too, at adding something new in. It usually takes my body a bit of time to adjust, but then it is for my good. Besides adding Bif in this time, I also got to add in Teff flour and Amaranth flour. After only using rice flour for the past 5 months, I was so excited to try both. I did well on both flours, and this morning I made Teff pancakes. They were really good. I hope the new addition to your protocol goes smoothly.
She's just started me on it
She's just started me on it too, mines arriving tomorrow. She put me on it because my system has become backed up and she said this should help with that. So what Natren told you Katie makes sense. I'm more than two years into treatment and have never had it before but I'm not particularly worried about taking it, not like I was when starting the Bifido.
Thanks for the responses
Thanks for the responses ladies!
Christine- I am so happy to hear how wonderfully you are doing! I love the California rolls, but have not tried them yet... I bet I could now that I am almost through list three. I will have to double check the ingredients;) It was a big turning point for me when I could eat almond butter in yogurt without any problems and also raspberries... yum! I was eyeing popcorn the other day in the store... which brand do you use? So many of the ones I looked at had palm oil or soy in them;(
Mrs. A- As always, thank you for your kind words and wonderful recipes! You have added more than once fabulous meal to my family's table;)
Carole-I am always interested to hear any information Dr.Brizman shares with people regarding why she is making a protocol decision... like that your system is "backed up". I have been on the same protocol for quite some time and my bladder had gained stability. My heart rate, however, reacted more strongly to ovulation than it has in awhile and when I emailed her and shared my concerns she decided to add in digest a lac. AND you are right..... I asked the question I did out of the same concern over adding in bifido, which I did fine adding but it makes the process easier for me if I can mentally prepare myself for what to expect;) Make sense? I hope you are doing well too! Two years in treatment! That is great! I kept thinking a year is so long, but time sure is flying by quickly;)
Katie
I buy organic popcorn kernels
I buy organic popcorn kernels and use an air popper and season with butter and hymalyan salt, yum! Regular pop corn is one of the most GMO crops so I only eat organic corn now.
Hi girls, Congratulations to
Hi girls,
Congratulations to those of you on list 4/5, I consider you almost ready to graduate :). This is so exciting and inpiring. I just had a quick question about the california rolls, the rice used for sushi has generous amount of vinegar. Is that ok on later stages?
Vinegar should be avoided
Vinegar should be avoided when possible, but I think in end stages of treatment it is ok in small amounts. I have used it on occasion in some recipies and have been fine. Matia says use lemon juice in place of it when ever possible. She says we can have sushi in list 5 but to have it with the pickled ginger, not sure why that is but I like the pickled ginger so it was all good for me. : )
Wow,
I didn't even know there was vinegar added in the rice! I will hold off on having these again until I talk to Dr. B. Thank you for pointing that out, I really appreciate it.
:) No problem. It's
:) No problem. It's complicated having IC and eating out. Even when it looks plain, there are many things they may add while cooking we are not aware of. Few months ago, i ordered a side of plain veggies, and when they came, they tasted different, really tasty. I could tell they weren't plain after the first bite, when i asked the manager, he told me he had them add vinegar to it!!! So even if you order strictly, you still can't tell for sure. Makes you a bit paranoid :)
Hi Fahlmank....
Hi Fahlmank,
I took Denise's advice and searched Digesta lac and found this post..... How are you doing on it? Also how is your treatment going? I have searched through your old posts and did not see your IC history, like when you first got it, and what you tried before Dr. B. If you don't mind sharing, I would love to hear it. I get weird heart flutters during hormonal times, and the beat just feels off.
Calieve, Hi! Good to hear
Calieve, Hi! Good to hear from you;) I was on the digesta lac for a week or maybe two then it was taken out and not but back in. The digesta lac did not cause any dramatic reactions and seemed fine to add in so no problems there. It seems that Dr. B was adding it in for me due to some of its properties in combination with whatever else I was taking at the time. Once my bladder stabilized, she began to create protocols more geared towards my heart and so it was taken out;)
Treatment is going very well, thanks for asking. My bladder is doing very well. My heart rate and skipped beats are still problematic at times, but we are working on it and I do feel that this month has been a real turning point for me regarding my heart rate. The heart flutters you are feeling are most likely called PVCs. It stands for premature, ventricular contraction and are very common around ovulation time or the hormonal changes surrounding menstruation. They are benign...although very uncomfortable and worrisome for me when they really get fluttering. Heart issues are common in IC patients- apparently- I never had any before treatment, but here I am. So, its always a good idea to get the heart checked out- because, well, it's your heart;) but the tremendous amount of lymphatic glands around the cardiovascular system really get going during treatment as we are attempting to drain all the junk out of us.
I am more than happy to share my IC history with you;) I have to run right now to take care of my little ones, but I will either make another post with my history in a bit or I will email you directly;)
How are you?
Take care,
Katie
Thanks so much for replying
Thanks so much for replying Katie! Like you my bladder has been doing very well. Luckily the heart flutters only bug me right before my period. But it's nice to know that it's not out of the ordinary for us, especially during die off.
I really just want to get better already. I know we have to be patient. But I would just love to have my energy back, and to not have to deal with all the crazy die off anymore. But I know it's a work in progress.
