I'm just putting this out there because I'm curious if there are any common factors in what caused this. This is a bit personal but mine started after using a vibrator. I thought maybe I injured my bladder or a nerve as the result. I've had many doctors tell me that this wasn't the case, and one initially diagnosed me with vulvodynia instead of IC. In fact after telling the specialists ive seen about this, most agreed initially I didnt have IC. But when one told me I might have it, I went nuts, panic attack after panic attack that led to pelvic pain pressure.
I have also noticed that many women who go through hysterectomies develop IC related symptoms, so I believe trauma can play a part in it, as well as clenching your pelvic floor muscles. I put myself in severe pain doing that until I realized what I was doing.
I began doing mind body work for this afterward, and after about 9 months my pelvic pain had pretty much gone most of the time. Then I began itching severely it seemed when I ate. I believe part of this is due to hormones and a ph imbalance. This made me nuts again for a while.
Then I started doing better again. Was doing so well mentally one day that I was able not to even think about this condition. Next day I had what felt like a uti for part of the day. Then it subsided. This happened on the last day of my period and I don't think I had eaten anything differently. My pelvic floor had gotten better at this time also. I was ale to pee normally again most of he time.
But the uti scare threw me off again, and I've been having trouble getting my head back in the right place to continue stress reduced healing. I think the recent trauma my body went through again with anxiety has caused a setback for me.
I was just hoping others might share what they thought the cause of there IC was. Imthinkmthat for some it is stress induced. And for some it starts as a physical trauma. Many believe they had a badder infection initially, but I wonder if it was a trauma caused by sexual activity for some that made them think they had a uti when they really had an injury that felt like it.
My IC was brought on by
My IC was brought on by poor diet, over use of antibiotics and being on the pill on and off for years.
I began to get recurrent UTIs 8 years ago.. I was getting at least 4 infections a year which were treated by antibiotics.. Then one day 2 years ago, the antibiotics didn't work. It felt like the 'UTI' just never went away... My results then came back there was no bacteria showing in my urine test. That's when I began searching online and found out about IC. After 1 year of suffering, I scheduled an appointment to fly to the U.S and see Matia for treatment :)
