Hi Everyone,
My first appointment with Dr. B is less than 2 weeks away. I'm really excited and nervous about it. I was wondering if anyone can let me know what to expect and also what should I bring to my appointment. Does she need to see any medical reports? I'm flying in from Canada so I don't want to forget anything that would be of importance to her. Also, can anyone recommend some good restaurants in the area. This will be my first time in LA so I would need some recommendations.
I also wanted to express how fortunate I feel to have found this website. I no longer feel alone and it has given me so much hope.
Thanks!
so good
You are starting with Dr. B! I brought a long list of questions which you only have time for near the end, really. So bring them, and prioritize them, and actually LOOK at them when it is time to ask them ;) I was awaiting some basic bloodwork results which she says she likes to see but doubt it is urgent. My naturopath ordered thyroid, vitamin D, cholesterol, etc...) but in TCM the diagnosis is largely done by interviewing the person and using the TCM diagnostics like examining the tonge and pulses, etc...and she has her VERY specific IC intake questions so I am not sure there is much to bring, really, besides your questions. Maybe others have better suggestions!
My flight was short, but since yours is not, I would ask the office to email you a letter that allows you to bring your water on the plane. If you are already drinking spring water you will not be able to bring it on without a note. Plan that they might test your water, even with the note. They did test mine. Really fun.
I was already on LIst 1 when I got to LA so I stayed with family and cooked at home. Sorry I have no restaurant recommendations but I am sure someone does!!
If we don't excel at health, the only other option is disease.
Hi Mimi,
Hi Mimi,
Thanks again for the information. I will call the office and ask for the letter. My flight is about 5 1/2 hours so I will need water. Does Dr. B specify what brand of spring water she wants her IC patient to drink. I've been drinking strictly Fiji water or Eska water. As far as restaurants I will search for a good Steak house. I was also wondering does list 1 allow seafood (shrimp, scallops etc..).
I will also start working on my questions. I do have my recent blood work results so I'll bring those with me. I also had an allergy test done including food sensitivity test. Does Dr. B take those into consideration. I think I read on one of her blog posts that she doesn't. Not to sure.
Have a great Day!

Welcome Sandi!
You can find the different food lists by looking up at the top of this page, click on the integrated tab, then choose diet from the drop down bar. It says that shell fish are allowed on list 1. She will probably want to see your blood work - I know that she's been interested in mine in the past. As for the food sensitivity thing, my guess is that over time your food sensitivities will lesson. I'm not sure how much validity it will hold with her, as overtime things should improve. As for the water thing - I've always been able to drink any spring water - although I know that some people do have a problem with different ones. So, I would ask.
Have a great trip
Take Care,
