I've been having the odd cup of coffee since starting list 2 ... I don't normally drink coffee, but I like having something hot to sip and its comforting. It increases my frequency for a couple hours after having it which is annoying BUT it seems to help any pain I'm having. Do you think it's okay for me to have occasioanlly as a "treat"? Or is the fact that I experience mild irritation and frequency after a sign that I shouldn't include it as this point? BTW it's french roast coffee that I'm drinking.
Hi M
Hi M
I have been drinking it since starting treatment. It increases my frequency, but then usually later in the day things are pretty good. It does not burn my bladder at all. Dr. B told me that I could drink it, and if I did, it would increase my frequency as it is a diuretic (frankly, many of my friends have to pee several times in an hour after drinking some!)
In hindsight, frequency after coffee was one of my early signs of IC. It seems like I used to have much less frequency with coffee until about 2 years ago (1+ years before my IC started). This hasn't stopped me from drinking it as I have always loved it and it is my big treat each day.
