Hi ladies,
A couple of months after I got IC I ceased taking birth control pills (which I had been taking for approx 7 years straight). Since I stoppe the pill, my period has disappeared. It has now been a little over a year and still no period :(
Just wondering if anyone has experienced anything similar to this and whether Matia thinks it is related to IC, and if so, how? Also, hoping to hear that some of you got your period again during treatment. It is really starting to worry me!
Hi again Emma! I'm no expert
Hi again Emma! I'm no expert but I felt bad you've received no answers yet. I haven't lost my period but I know there are many who have ... some before seeing Dr B and some who lose it during treatment in the beginning stages. I think for most people it returns when they start improving and the body gets stronger. The pill can really mess with things too. I think sometimes when the body is sick it puts all the effort into getting better and puts a halt on other things like the menstrual cycle ... also if the body is sick and imbalanced this could mess with hormones and in turn lead to loss of period. Hope this helped somewhat!
I am experiencing the same.
I am experiencing the same. My last period was on June 2. I started treatment at the end of May. I was on the pill for many years and the last 8 months I had the Mirena (12/11-8/12). After having it removed I had about 3 sporadic periods. Now I am not getting one at all. It definitely worries me. I mention it to Boaz at every appointment. He assures me that it is a part of the balancing that will come in time. Hope this helps. Enjoy your weekend.
Thanks for your input ladies,
Thanks for your input ladies, much appreciated! My first appointment is still a few months away so just thought I'd see what others thought in the mean time :)
Hi Emma! I too lost my period
Hi Emma! I too lost my period during this whole healing process. I was placed on BC for a short time trying to regulate my cycles. Never had a regular cycle, lucky to have it maybe 4x/year and was very painful. I was diagnosed with PCOS and tried BC for approximately 9 months, my migraines were so bad and frequent on BC I had to stop. It was nice to know when to expect my period and not have much pain while on BC, but as soon as I got off BC it was the same story horrific cramping and didn't have a period for 8 months. After starting treatment I went back to having periods approximately every 3-4 months. After 21 months of treatment my periods are becoming more regular and frequent every 33-45 days. I am ecstatic about this, because I am hoping to have the ability to start a family when this is all said and done. Dr's have told me this would never be a possibility, at least not naturally. Anyway, your period will return as your body is able to rebalance. Like everyone has said, your body is reserving its energy for more vital functions at the moment. Not to worry, it will return!
