burning urine

Hi all,

I'm hoping to fly to see Dr Boaz Brizman in a month or so and I just wondered if anyone had similar symptoms to me and had seen some improvement? I have minimal bladder pain after changing drinking waters but incredibly painful urination after eating most foods. When I wake in the morning the first urination is ok but as soon as I eat anything (including list 1 food) the next urination is like acid/knives. The urine is so strong that it actually damages the skin of my vulva. I'm also having symptoms of vulvodynia and my monthly cycle has stopped. Has anyone else on the programme had similar symptoms? I know I have IC but it almost seems like I have a 'weird' type according to medical professionals.

Thanks ladies

Katie

HI Katie!! I truly think every type of IC is "weird" IC to most doctors because they don't know how to categorize it. I don't have those particular symptoms but I assure you somone has and has gone through to the other side into the world of being well. Best of luck!

Hi Katie,

I am all too familiar with those burning symptoms! Exactly what you describe is the level I had it before treatment. Since then, I can say that it has definitely improved. They haven't completely gone but the intensity is mild. You will find that over time, the burning will lessen as well as be more consistent during the day as opposed to fluctuating throughout the day. I also used to feel ok in the morning but once I ate something, it would shoot up, now though, the morning is mild as is the rest of the day and I'm on list 3 - so you can see, it will improve, just takes time and A LOT of patience :)

You might also find that as one symptom improves, another will become more apparent and the primary symptom. For me this has happened with vulvodynia. It wasn't so apparent to begin because inflammation was everywhere! As the burning urination is improving, vulvodynia is coming to surface, that's not to say it is getting worse - not at all! Just means that we become more aware of what exactly we feel.

You are in great hands so do not worry!! Dr Boaz is very understanding and caring and will help you through this at every step. I hope I have given you some reassurance. If you have any more questions, you can always message me too :)
