Dear Lola,

Are docs fairly certain this is bacterial?  My understanding is that it is normally viral.  Is there any way to run a culture?  I know that I've had horrible sinus headaches over the years of treatment - often bed ridden and nauseated.  I found that if I took golden seal, put a little water on it, and stuffed it up my nostrils - I often got quite a bit of relief.

I feel bad for you - HATE trying to decide to use or not use antibiotics.

Hugs,

Denise

Hey Denise! How are you doing? Just today I explored viral vs bacterial and disovered a longstanding infection liik this one is sure to be bacterial whereas shorter, viral...more to learn there. In the meantime thank you so much for you empathy. The saga of this tooth (now extracted 2 weeks ago) has been a mystery and no proof my sinus pressure etc was connected to this oldder root canal. Well, the surgery revealed a piece of root had broken off into sinus and it looks like the source of all. However, th infection has bloomed. Dr M is treating with GML an it reacts but so far seems not to get on top of it. Antibiotic looms but I sure don't want to take it. I'm tying to stay the journey, but steadily symptoms seem worse.  running out of steam...I am stcking goldenseal up me nose :-)

So, am looking for other xperiences perhaps havin to resort to anx....Have you faced this decsion? taken anx during treatment?... well wishes!

Lolo- Such a difficult decision. I might give it one more week and then I think I would do the abx,  knowing that Dr B could help get me back on track.

Thanks Deir: I am taking one day at a time (heading for another week's wait as you suggested...but it is a kind of marathon and boy, I sure feel self-absorbed...Also, hoping to hear any similiar experiences or antibiotic decisions and advice re that..

It's good to hear from you!  Be well!

Hi Lolo,

In airport waiting for flight - will be short - did antibiotics for UTI several years ago - this was after six months of trying herbs - one of two people Dr. M had this kind of trouble with - I never regretted my desicion - nor do I regret trying the herbs.  I reached a point where I decided that enough was enough.  I will say that since that UTI I can no longer go a whole night without having to get up to pee 0 may have nothing to do with the antibiotics. Other than that, it seems like no ill affects.

Take Care,

Denise

Thanks Denise...I appreciate you taking time to gve your experience. I am so close to abx, but not yet. It's particularly comforting to know you don't regret. Looking back, do you regret not starting abx earlier? I suspect the nighttime pee break is not related..It happens and sometimes that coordinates with healing stages...have a a good flight...Be Well...

Dear Lolo,

I don't know that I would go so long, and in so much pain, if I had it to do over again - especially when I didn't seem to suffer damage from them.  HOWEVER, they will never be my first choice.  About six months ago I believe that I was hit by a UTI again.  Since I had so much experience on protocol for a UTI - I quickly started heavy duty herbs while waiting for Matia to get back to me.  I probably spent a month on the herbs, never experiencing the horrible pain of two years ago.  As a side note, we found out something interesting about the type of regimine that I was on for the UTI - unlike most patients who get more anxious and tired on them, they had the opposite affect - something that surprised Matia and vastly changed my long term protocol.  It ended up being a godsend that put me on a healing track that I might never have been on.  While my ocd and anxiety still is a struggle, it's become a doable struggle - funny how life works.

Sorry for babbling - find myself wide awake supposed to be enjoying "vacation". It tends to make me a bit unbalanced mentally and a bit of a nervous wreck.

I hope that you start to feel better soon and trust in your choices - you have a right to them.

Thanks Denise...still hanging in there..." you have a right to choices"...such a good reminder...(this disease has made me aware of my pride and how it has now moved into surrender, bordering sometimes on apathy...YES....choices!!!.gives me ammo to carry on another day...

I would say, things looking up today, but discovering this is not linear so each day, new exp..

Hoping you've moved into some vacation fun!!!!

Well, here I am still hoping to avoid antibiotics: on GML (3 caps 4xday) with some improvement but infection is still there! Treatment has been over 6 weeks...

I thought it would be good to hear from anyone with this experience...long time on GML? resistant infection? and experience after resorting to antibiotic? Any input so welcome..with thanks
