Another Story Inspiring Hope

My journey with IC began in June 2013. One morning, I woke up with excruciating bladder pain just days after undergoing a laparoscopic procedure. My gynecologist initially assumed I had a bladder infection and prescribed antibiotics, but I found no relief. After further examination, he referred me to a urologist who performed a cystoscopy and confirmed the diagnosis of interstitial cystitis (IC). At that moment, I had no understanding of IC or how I was supposed to live with this condition for the rest of my life. I was prescribed antidepressants and painkillers and sent home to manage this life-altering condition on my own.
For months, I endured persistent bladder pain, burning during and after urination, urgency, and chronic fatigue. It felt unbearable, and I knew I needed a change. I turned to the internet and came across Dr. Matia Brizman’s website. Without hesitation, I scheduled an appointment and flew to Los Angeles to meet with her.
From the moment I met Dr. Brizman, I felt a sense of hope I hadn’t experienced in months. She reassured me that the treatment she was about to guide me through would change my life, and she was right. I returned home and embarked on the slow, challenging journey to recovery. The process had its ups and downs, but Dr. Brizman’s unwavering support, expertise, and kindness helped me persevere through the tough times.
Today, I am symptom-free and rarely think about IC. I’m incredibly grateful to Dr. Brizman for her patience, dedication, and the life-changing treatment she provided. I truly feel fortunate to have found her and to now live a life free of the constant struggle with IC.
