IC Friendly Product Survey

Forums:

Hi everyone. I know there are several little posts on this site about the products and brands we use, but thought it'd be nice to create a new post that's more comprehensive and up to date with a bit of feedback as well. We had a water survey post a while ago, and it was very helpful for those of us traveling and using that as a guide. So here is what i came up with. Please feel free to add more if you think of other categories. I'll start mine as soon as I get home, I was too impatient to wait to share it with you. Wish all of you a symptom free day :)

Where do you live

What list are you on

Diet: What brand eggs, poultry, meat, bread, oil, butter, flour etc we use.

Personal products: Make up (foundation, eyeliner, mascara, lipstick (haven't wore one for ages!!!), pads, shampoo/conditioner, hair dye

I am looking for IC friendly face powder. I occasionally use Bare Minerals, but I am not sure if that brand is approved.

California. List 2 and aching for list 3
No hair dye- I am a 60's chick and I have old hippie brown, gray streaked hair.
Body lotion and shampoo, Bomamed
Lube(sorry) Bertolli 100 percent olive oil not extra virgin.
Lipstick- Dr Hauschka
Eye make up- revlon but it kind of bothers my eyelids
sunscreen-bomamed
lip gloss- have been using vaseline but maybe need to switch to the Bomamed product
Food- I shop at a food coop and I read labels carefully and I buy organic. I buy ridiculous amounts of veggies at the Farmer's Mkt cuz there is mroe variety (sometimes) and it is a lot cheaper.
Detergent- Seventh Generation
That's about it.

This was so helpful, thank you both!!! Here is mine:
Los Angeles, List 3
Diet:
Eggs: Wholefoods 365 regular organic eggs
Poultry: I was never given a satisfying answer on the feed of the chickens, even on the organic kind, so i usually skip (except when i am sick, i really savor chicken soup)
Fish:  I'll usually have salmon, dover sole, swordfish ( i know this is not the best), and Houston's (Hillstone) has the most delicious Loupe de Mer, which they can cook with butter. Wild caught only.
Meat: Organic, or grass-fed if i cook. If we eat out, conventional, occasionally i'll have a burger if i have no choice.
Rice: Lundberg Organic White Basmati
Snacks: Stoneyfield organic plain yogurt, Kettle brand chips, Lundberg brown rice cakes unsalted or lightly salted.  Pacific Bakery spelt/kamut breads, Bob's Red Mill Light Spelt Flour (at first i could only tolerate this), now i can have Arrowhead Mills organic spelt and ok with it.
Oil/Butter: Bel'Olio Extra Light Olive Oil (not virgin) from Costco, Horizon Organic unsalted butter (i am a bit confused about butter labels, sweet cream etc? )
Hair Dye: Have been too scared to use, I've been getting whites on the sides and keep pulling them against all wisdom that it'll come back in multiples!!
Shampoo/Conditioner: Bomamed unscented shampoo and conditioner. I love the shampoo. Smells good, and makes hair shiny and less frizy. Also use Thera Neem Organix.
Toothpaste: Thera Neem with Mint,  flouride free.
Lotion/Soap: Now Solutions 100% Jojoba Oil, Bomamed unscented lotion and body wash. I also buy the Bomamed olive oil soap and mainly use it for shaving. It works great.
Sunscreen: Bomamed
Condoms/lubrication: Recently switched to Durex lubricated (spermicide free), I was ok with it, no flare. Also used Skyn, Trojan BareSkin. The non-lubricated hurts me too much now even with Bomamed Lubrication.
Make up: Bobbi Brown foundation (has SPF 15, Matia ok'd it but i should run it with her again, also Bobbi Brown blush.
Nail Polish: Zoya. My friend works for Sparitual and swears it's a better nail polish than Zoya claims. They have great colors but i flared once so not sure if it was due to nail polish or remover. I'll run this brand with Matia next time.
Nail Polish remover: Using plain cheap CVS brand, without any added stuff like Vit E etc. Matia recommended to use a health store brand and use cutips instead of cotton. If i use a cotton ball (it's soaks and delivers more remover), i'll wear a disposable glove to protect my skin.
Pads: NatraCare
Deodorant: I used Degree throughout treatment, and couldn't switch to a healthier brand because it'd be useless. I'd sweat and smell aweful. Recently I switched to Jason unscented fresh (pink label), finally a decent healthy deodorant. Paraben, aliminum free.
Household: I am slowly switching to Seventh Generation for detergent and cleaners. Still use Tide for laundry, Matia said it won't make a big difference on IC but I think it's better to. I also don't use bleach for whites anymore for my laundry just in case.
That's all for me. :)

I like this, plus it's sort of fun to take stock.
Maine, list 3
Eggs: don't eat them usually, they make me really sluggish.

Meat/fish: Organic, grass fed, local beef, local "natural" chicken on occasion, wild-caught fish, mostly salmon, and haddock

Rice: organic short grain brown from co-op

Snacks: Lundberg rice cakes (wild, salted, unsalted), other rice cakes bother my bladder, Kettle brand chips

Fats: Organic Valley butter, sometimes Kate's butter,  Philippo Berio olive oil

Shampoo: Theraneem Gentle Therape or Bomamed, Alaffia neem & shea conditioner or Bomamed

Soap: Tom's of Maine sensitive- I think it's OK, sometimes I wonder if I react to it a little though.  I use kiss-my-face olive oil soap for handsoap- it's HUGE bar that will never get used up!  I think I've had it for over a year!

Toothpaste: Tom's of Maine or Jason's

Lotion: Jojoba oil (Jobacare brand)  or olive oil

Condoms/lube: Trojan non-lubricated, bomamed lube or jojoba oil

Makeup: covergirl eyeliner and concealer, I use various lipsticks on occasion with no ill effect

Pads: natra care or 7th generation

Deodorant: Crystal or nothing (though I do smell)

Household: 7 generation dish soap and laundry soap, bon ami powder cleaner, vinegar & water, usually use Marcoal recycled TP.  I wear gloves when I do dishes and clean.

Think that's the gist!

Thanks for doing this!
I’m still getting started and this was so helpful.  I’d been using Tom’s of Main Sensitive soap too
and have thought it was ok but it is so hard to tell.  That’s great to know that Dove Sensitive
might be ok.  I’m going to try it because
I’m using a giant green bar of olive oil soap right now and I’m not in love
with it.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
