Hi,My name is Amy. I saw Dr. Brizman 2 weeks ago. I have been on the diet for about 2 months although I cheated alittle til I actually saw her. I am on list 1 & am only on my 2nd day of herbs...the most horrible tasing drink I have ever smelled or tasted!!! I have only been doing this 2 days but immediately it made me feel nauseous & dizzy. My pain levels have been down for about 6 weeks with some bad days here & there. Im not sure why she started me on list 1 as I dont seem to have many food sesitivities? before these 2 weeks, I was able to tolerate almonds, provolone cheese, raisins & blueberries. I have a phone appointment in 10 days & hope she adds in some new foods!
I have 3 kids so this journey has been monumental. The IC began in September after the birth of my 3rd child but didnt really get sever until January & then the pain never stopped. I am hopeful this will all be worth all of the effort & sacrifices.
If anyone has advice for someone entering the 1st month of tretment I would love to hear.
Welcome, Amy!
It will be so worth all the effort and sacrifice. I know it is hard to start on list 1, I had to do the same, but you will really know your body well as you climb the lists. Sometimes we think we are tolerating something, but really we aren't. My daughter has IC as well, and she thought she was tolerating almonds just fine before treatment. They were actually quite bothersome once she figured it out. (She suffered from nausea and dizziness, as well as frequency.) It surprised us both, but Dr. B knew. She is quite remarkable at knowing what you can tolerate and when. I got IC three weeks before we left for China to adopt our little girl. I have been in treatment 7 months, and I am so thankful to be under Dr. B's care. She will help you through this!
Mrs. A - a bit off topic
If you ever feel like writing me at greatworker1@hotmail.com - (not sure why I can't pick up anything that comes directly from this site) I'd love to hear your story of you and your Chinese baby girl - My adopted baby girl is from Korea - not so little any more. She's now 26.
Take Care,
List 1
I know it is hard but the diet is such a big part of treatment. In the beginning eating any kind of sugar, even the natural kind (raisins, blueberries, etc.)will feed all the bacteria and yeast. I was on List 1 for a year and it was not easy but I would not be where I am today if I had rushed it. Hang in there, it will get better.
