Advice about prescription meds

Hi I really need some advice. I have been in treatment for about a month. I have continued on my medications ( Flomax, Baclofen, Oxibutynin & Amitriptyline .) I would like to start weaning my self off. I really have been taking everything since the end of April so not a long time. Can anyone offer any advice. I know Matia says she can't advice because she isn't a medical Dr. But most Drs don't know how to do it either. Is this going to be another layer of suffering because I am definitely not stable at the moment. I started the herbs & my pain has increased.

Should I wait to go off the drus or begin...I just want them out of my system!

I think you will be able to wean off the drugs as you continue treatment. I believe others have done just that. I would want them out of my system quickly, too, but you probably have to do it gradually. You will get off of them in time. Since you've only been on them since April it might be not too long in getting off of them. I am sorry I can't be of more help, but I am so glad you are with Dr. B and I know she will help you to get stabilized. She has helped so many get off the drugs and be stable without them. Keep up the good healing work you are doing. :)

Hi AMyBarbara:

WHen I started with Dr. B last Feb, I was taking steroid nasal spray, antihistamines often, allergy shots, digestive enzymes, d-mannos, HRT and elmiron. I am off all of that now and it was very scary for me because I have been so sick with allergies for 20 years. I stopped disgestive enzymes and d-mannos immediately, then elmiron, end of March; then the antihistamines/nasal spray (a couple drops of goldenseal in the nose on the q-tip helped with congestion; Then I stopped HRT in May ( I tapered down) and then the shots. Dr. B warned me there would be adjustments and there were but so far so good. My allergies have improved since on the protocol-we'll see how I do next pollen season- but I am now eating a lot of cheese and eggs which I never could handle before. About 6 weeks off the elmiron my blader pain increased a bunch and I had to go from List 3, where I started, to List 2. My stats this week in NYC on vacation (lots of travel issues with food- 3 bad days, 2.5 good days and 1.5 ok days. I would have done better except for Evian water on the plane screwed me up; retried coffee again- it doesn't like me- and I ate smoked salmon with sugar-leading tot he 3 bad days);
HRT was hard. My tissues really noticed the absence of the hormones but Dr. B has addressed so far and it is adequate. Shots are we'll see. I certainly don't miss them. But it was a big leap of faith to give up all of that stuff but I wanted to see what my baseline was.
Now I am waiting for the fun to start- I am hoping that in the next month, I will see further improvement. I am impatient and tired of the pain.
Hope that helps. Let me know fi you want my phone number. We can talk further.
Best, Bonnie

I am going to talk to a pharmasist for assistance. Thank you for all of your advice and encouragement. it is just so frustrating that this journey takes so long. No one should have to suffer this way. I feel like this has taken 1.5 years of my life from me & my family & now another year at least. Ive always been very strong but im not sure where to find the strenght lately. 1 day at a time:))))
