Hi everyone,
I have IC like symptoms from June this year and want to come to see Dr Brizman before Christmas if possible. I have been following the list one diet and stopped the pill both for the last month and a half ish. Initially I felt a bit better but now I'm not so sure, but have seen the success stories on here and it's providing some hope. It's such a scary thing to be told there's nothing that can be done and you may just have to live with this. Feels like your whole world has fallen apart and is so isolating, I'm only 27 and I feel 100!
I know we're all going through the same here so I was wondering if I could please ask a few questions?
if anyone has travelled from the UK, do you need a visa? My boss went to Florida recently and did, but I dont know if it's a length of time thing? I can't stay in LA long because of money, I'd love to do a little road trip and really explore beautiful California but maybe I'll have to save that until I'm feeling better and have a special someone to take :) I'll be travelling alone and have never left Europe before so this is pretty scary.
I really want to do this but at the same time my brain is telling me it might not work and its going to cost me so much money. I don't really see any other options though, no one else is having any success with this terrible disease, so I guess I've answered my own question there really!
If anyone has any info about their journey to see Matia, which airline, any tips for a cheap place to stay, a hostel will do :), then I'd love to hear from you. Or about anything for that matter :)
Hope everyone is feeling good today,
many thanks,
Jess
Hi Jess, this isn't really
Hi Jess, this isn't really any practical help to you but just wanted to let you know that I've just booked my appointment with dr b and I'm coming from Australia, I know how it feels to be such a long long way away from help! I've booked for may next year, the earliest I can go due to work and kids commitments and it can't come fast enough. I felt a bit crazy at first, finding someone on the net who I'd never seen, but after emailing lots of girls on the forum who absoluteky raved about thevtreatment felt like it was the best option for me. Oh to feel normal again! The trip will be very expensive but I'm hoping it will be the best investment I ever make. See if you can take a friend with you, I've talked my sister in law into coming with me, I was too scared to go to LA by myself, the furthest I've travelled from aus is Bali -3 hr flight! Lol. Well take care and hope you get yr appt soon xx

You do not need a Visa for a short trip, just a passport. You will not regret seeing her. No one knows IC like she does.
Hey Jess, another UK patient
Hey Jess, another UK patient here :)
I actually did need a visa; worth sorting i think in case it comes up.
I was pretty freaked by the notion of the trip, but it really wasn't a big deal, weirdly, in the end. I did it as a three-day round trip i think. I stayed in the Holiday Inn that does a discount for Bomamed patients, and got the shuttle bus from the airport that you can book onto (google LAX shuttle bus).
As everyone's said, Dr B's fantastic. I've been 1.5 years in treatment now and doing pretty good - about 90% there I think. Gone from frequency, urge, bladder pain, vulvodynia, electrial buzzing, IBS, nocturia etc etc etc to on and off vulvodynia and occasional 'weird' feelings in pelvic floor muscles. Nights are by and large brilliant; best of all if I'm woken by a noise or whatever in the night I can often turn over and go back to sleep without having to pee! Can't really explain the joy of this to a none-ICer ;).
Really good luck with it all and let us know how it goes. You're on the right path to resolve this now, as so many of us can testify. Take care and keep posting
xx
Hi Jess, You'll just need a
Hi Jess,
You'll just need a visa called an ESTA which is really easy and cheap to sort out online as long as you make sure you do it 24 hours before your trip. https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov/esta/
The UK is part of the visa waiver program in the USA so you don't need a full visa. I think ESTA is just a way of them keeping track of things better.
I flew over from Australia a couple of months ago and ummed and ahhed about it for months before I did. I ended up spending so much money here trying to sort things out and got nowhere! In the end I figured in the long run it would be cheaper for me just to go see Dr B in LA and actually have someone who knew what they were doing sort it out. It was expensive but soooo worth it and I don't regret it one bit! Finally I feel like I'm getting better and although it can be a pain having to order herbs via mail every couple of months it's worth feeling better!
On a side note I really enjoyed my time in LA! Dr B is in a gorgeous part of LA and I just tried as much as possible to treat it like a little holiday.
Feel free to email me anytime if you have questions. I know I had soooo many before my trip to LA.
Hi Everyone, First of all
Hi Everyone,
First of all thanks for all your helpful replies and kind words. What a great little community on here! I've had a look at the website MissCC posted and it seems I can get the special quick visa mentioned as I have an electronic chipped passport, so that'll be much better.
Amanda, I hope your appointment goes well next year, furthest plane flight I've ever been on is 3 hours too, went to Greece! I'll let you know how mine goes :)
Again, thanks for all your help everyone :)
Jess
Sorry forgot to say - lovely
Sorry forgot to say - lovely to hear how you are healing. Feels so impossible when you first get this, hope is good!
I am an LA patient of Dr. B's
I am an LA patient of Dr. B's and almost didn't go to my appointment with her because I thought she must be a new age rip off type of doctor. Boy, am I glad I kept my appointment! Not only is it a true path to health but it is an amazing journey. We were all told we had an incurable condition also. It is so wonderful that Dr. B figured this out. How far is it worth it to travel for the opportunity to cultivate excellent health? People come to see her from far away often. i spoke to someone this week who came here from Canada. She thought it was well worth it. Best of luck to you.
