Anyone from Vermont- Against the Grain?

Hello lovely Ladies,

I am in love with a new yeast-free, gluten-free bread that I am tolerating quite well made by Against the Grain. I can find their original flavors here but I am in search of someone who lives in the Vermont area and would be willing to pick up some rosemary bread and sun-dried tomato basil bagels that they make. They are heavenly and the nice man I spoke to who is their head chef said that there is no distribution of those flavors to where I live and I would need to find someone in Vermont. I know no one in Vermont so I thought I would see if any of you would be interested in helping me out. If so, please email me.... or post here... of course I would pay for everything;)

Thanks,

Katie

Hey Katie - nowhere near Vermont - but this did make me smile.  I would say that your perspective and health have drastically shifted.  CONGRATULATIONS!

Hey Denise, thanks for your sweet comment! I think of you often and hope you are well;) I am better and I suppose I have been hesitant to post about it or speak out loud-- residual post traumatic IC syndrome- relearning to trust my body;)Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Hi Katie,

I'm in Maine, do they distribute those flavors here?  Would I find them in the fresh or freezer section?  It's too bad, I was just in VT last weekend and would have gladly gone on a bread mission.  I am planning on being back there in January, so I could look then if you can wait that long.

Happy to hear you're doing well!   Do ICers generally do OK with Tapioca flour or is this something you've just discovered works for you? I'm currently working as a baker at a gluten-free bakery and we do a lot of baked goods with a mix of rice, potato and tapioca flours.  It's got other stuff in it we can't have so I've never actually eaten anything I make.
I hope you're enjoying being back at school/work.  Happy Thanksgiving!

Hi Claire!
How are you? I hope you are continuing to feel better. I, too, am doing well. I think the holidays tend to act as a marker for reflection in the year- when I think how I feel this Thanksgiving compared to last... it is night and day. I am truly enjoying being back in the classroom. I spoke with Dr. Brizman about going back to work during the summer and she was absolutely right on when she told me that she has rarely had a patient who has regretted going back to work- provided they are stable. It is so wonderful to feel a sense of normalcy;)
I would fovever be thankful if you are able to go on a bread hunt for me. I believe some of the flavors are carried in Maine, but if you head to Vermont again in January, I would LOVE it if we could arrange for you to purchase a case for me and of course I will pay you ahead of time, shipping etc. I will email you (if that's ok;) and send a link to the company and their products. Specifically, I am looking for any of their bread products with sun-dried tomato basil and/or rosemary. The original flavors are sold here around me.
As for the ingredients, they are great! Dr. Brizman shared that Tapioca (the main ingredient) is iffy. Fine for some and not for others. I have not had a problem with it and it is the first good tasting, yeast-free bread I have tried. The secret is to pop it in the over for about 20 minutes or the toaster for a little while.
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving;)

Hi again Katie,

I will be in touch via email before I head to VT.  Hope you had a great Thanksgiving, I'm so glad to hear you're doing so well!  I'm doing pretty well, too.   I definitely have a ways to go still, but I really am functioning in a normal way at this point.  I've really found that getting fatigued is my biggest trigger now.  But even then, "bad" now is certainly not what it used to be!

I didn't find Against the Grain in WF, but I made a request to carry that brand. Where do you buy it?

Hi Blondy,
My WF here does carry some of the Against The Grain products like the original rolls and pizza. A local grocery store, Heinen's carries it- as does the Mustard Seed Market, which is a large, independent, organic grocery store.
If you are wondering if it is sold in your area, go to the against the grain website and call the "contact us" number. One of the co-owners answered the phone when I called and they couldn't have been more responsive or nice.;)
Hope you are well and Happy Thanksgiving,
Katie
