Baby Steps

Well after my rant and flare up about a week ago, I wanted to update everyone. After coming to terms and reading hundreds of posts by all of you wonderful ladies, I am making baby steps which is decreasing my pain. I still have NO urgency or frequency, just pain. Is this possible? I sometimes feel like maybe its something else thats bothering me (even though I was diagnosed by cystoscopy/hydo distention). I went to a local health food store and finally found some spelt bread. We also bought 1/4 of a cow and have a freezer full of fresh beef and steak cuts. I was doing really well until my fiance baked and used minced garlic. Its my fault as I told him I could have garlic and he assumed minced would be fine, well the minced garlic is packaged and although organic, it contained citric acid which I heard is a no no, correct? Sooo..my flare is back a little but  I know I can get it back under control. I am learning so much from all of you and have started saving to come see Dr. B as soon as funds allow. I have even considered using my tax return money. We just got word that our offer on the house was accepted so we have a big 20% down payment coming, wedding in November, fiance recently got into a car accident and totaled his vehcile (luckily he is fine) but now we are down to one car, so we are car searching for him now, plus our house needs all appliances. We are in the process of putting his house up for sale now to so hopefully we can avoid having 2 mortgages out!!! So stressful, but I am doing everything I can from here on out to get the help I need. My fiance wants to start having kids right away after marriage so I know that I must get this under control now so this may happen. I started thinking back to when I was pregnant, and how I had NO symptoms at all. I wonder if this was because I had a very clean diet (no caffeine, no alcohol and the big one....NO BIRTH CONTROL) this keeps replaying in my head, but I can't get myself to stop taking it right now. Not with the wedding coming up. I keep telling myself that after the wedding, I will never take it again, but then I think how can I fully try to beat this with it in my body currently....

baby steps...thats all I can do.....

Thanks for the support! How much $$ do you think I should have saved before calling for the appointment?

You should call the office and they can give you an idea of costs. It is very reasonable, in my opinion given that you will be working towards getting your life back!
Trying to understand the birth control thing. Can you switch to natural condoms (lambskin or similar??). My husband and I have used them for years with no issues. Just a thought. Also, if your cycles are regular you could chart your cervical fluid to avoid getting pg. "Taking Charge of your Fertility" is a nice book on this approach.

If we don't excel at health, the only other option is disease.

We do use condoms and I am on birth control. I have had a condom break in the past and am VERY cautious on this matter. Can you explain why birth control is so bad for IC patients though? The chemicals? I understand Dr. B is all about natural remedies etc, but there are times where I have to have pain control, therefore sometimes take vicodin. Im sorry for all the questions as I know you are all in treatment and know so much more than I do.

Hi there,
Birth control is interacting with a lot of other processes inside the body and not in a positive way. Taking something for the pain when really needing it sometimes is not so bad. You don 't need to torture yourself, but it is best to  minimize it to heal the leaky gut.
I am not sure if you are already in treatment, but taking a close look at the diet is a good start.
