Hi everyone,

I have not had a great weekend.  Bladder pain has been consistant and I've been doing everything possible to just relax and get through this rough patch.  I emailed Dr. B and she told me to stop the probiotic.  I'm not sure what this means.  Has anyone had this happen to them and does she reintroduce it.  I know how important the probiotic is to healing the gut so I'm worried that this is a setback to my healing process.  Just another thing for me to worry about.  I guess I need some piece of mind that this is part of the process.

Thanks for listening

Yes, don't worry many have trouble with adding probiotics. She will add it back in maybe more slowly next time, but will wait until things settle a bit, and she feels your body is ready for it! Try not to worry about it, you will eventually be able to tolerate it! Hope your pain subsides quickly!

Sandi, I have read this happens. Personally, she started me on 1 full mega, then 1/4, then 1/2, then full again and by the end of the week I was back to a half and have stayed there ever since. More is not necessarily better in chinese medicine, from what I have learned in this process so far, and from her dissertation. The key is finding the right amounts of things to slowly coax your body back to balance. Too much of any one thing can turn up inflammation. The healing is dynamic and the probiotics are only part of it. I have read of people improving even when they were not always on the probiotic and that they tolerated it when it was re-introduced at another time.

Dr. B has taken me off probiotics at different times during treatment, and then she adds them back in when I'm ready for them again.  It's totally normal.

Thank you ladies your responses have made my day so much easier.  You can not imagine how greatful I am to have found this forum.  The knowledge, experience and comfort  you all bring to my life is priceless.
Lisa Ann, when she removed the probiotic to your protocol did this help with the pain and how long did it take to feel a difference?  I've been off the probiotic for 1 day and my bladder still burns and  my urethra is also sensitive.  As you can see I'm really impatient and I have to really work on this.  I was doing so well for 2 weeks.  The only thing I can blame this on is ovulation.  My body reacts so negatively to my cycle.  A week later I'm still experiencing pain and my period is due in 1 week.  Has anyone experienced this and has improved with the herbs.  I pray for the day that my period no longer causes such a problem to my bladder and lower back. For now, all I can do is learn to be patient on this long fearful journey.
Ladies, thanks again!

Sandi, this is all pretty new to me. I have had IC symptoms for about 4.5 months. I was in a fair amount of pain before Dr. B. Since then I have been keeping a diary and notice my symptoms are worse at ovulation, then I might have a few "better" days, although still symptomatic, and then my symptoms ramp up before my period. My best days have been right after my period. I have heard that as we rebalance the hormones will not effect our bladders in the same way. This last luteal phase of my cycle was a little better than then month before, if that helps!

Thanks again Mimi,  I feel like I can always count on you to give me a smart, educated answer.  It means the world to me as I am always looking for answers.  I have noticed that if I have a mild period that is light and short (3 - 4 days) my next ovulation will be very difficult with a lot of pain and all the IC symptoms possible.  Things are just so unperdictable.  I had a horrrible sleepless night and I'm feeling a little congested. I contacted Dr. B today and she has added goldenseal to my protocol.  Is this part of your protocol and if so did it help?  It tastes horrible.  You have only had IC 4.5 months how did you find Dr. B? Were you ever diagnosed?
