I had never had these lovely visitors before I developed IC and IBS-D concurrently. I have been in treatment for 18 months and they're not improving, probably as I still am healing my gastro issues. Can anyone offer any advice or hope?

Hi! I have this problem as well. I know how difficult it is! I have been in treatment 2 1/2 years and it does get better. For me diet is very crucial with this problem. Some foods make them worse, so I avoid those foods. I cannot exercise at this point either, or it will make things worse. When they are bad, I do a sitz bath with a drop or two of lavender oil, Dr. B approved. And I drink lots of hot water. This helps to settle things down while taking away the offending food, or resting if I have been overactive. I hope this helps some!

I've had this too but it has gotten so much better.  Here is a tip from an 80 year old former doctor friend of mine that works really well when it gets bad:  soak in a tub or sitz bath with warm water, then lay down on your stomach with a pillow underneath you so that your tush is raised and air can get to the anal area. The air helps and being in that position causes gravity to work in your favor and gets the hemmorhoids to go back inside if they are sticking out. You can lay there as long as you want but probably a minimum of 15 minutes. Do this once or twice a day until things calm down. This always worked for me. Also, try to stay off your feet as much as possible, if that's possible.

If we don't excel at health, the only other option is disease.
